Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
Hopefully the Warriors can build on last weeks excellent result in Dublin. Good to see Beattie back in the matchday squad and should be pushing for a starting role soon enough. In the Hearld today he is saying that he wants to stay with Glasgow and sign a new contract, be interesting to see if a contract offer actually appears or like Vernon and Evans the SRU will let him slip away off their wage bill.
Don't know much about the Treviso side, but I honestly can't see Glasgow running away with this but home advantage and the confidence carried over from last week, should hopefully get us a win by 5-9 points.

The Scotsman -Johnnie Beattie
Great Article in the Scotsman about how disapointed Johnnie Beattie was to not have been selected for the New Zealand trip. Nice to hear how keen he is to get back into the swing of things with Glasgow.
Scotland and Glasgow can't afford to have a player of his class not playing well.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
Glasgow should be looking to get back to back wins here (when was the last time that happened) and aim to deny Treviso a losing bonus point.
I'd prefer Horne at 13 ahead of Dewey, and probably Seymour ahead of Shaw, but Lineen has gone for the more powerful options there. Pleased to see Pyrgos and Weir linking up. So much potential there.
Beattie and Eddie are pretty handy impact subs to have coming on. Glasgow should be too strong for Treviso.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
Form: Glasgow Warriors snapped their five game losing sequence with their magnificent 23-19 victory to end Leinster's incredible 29 match home winning run last Saturday. The Warriors have slipped to defeat in their last three encounters at Firhill. Benetton Treviso have begun the RaboDirect PRO12 season with three successive defeats. Treviso's only away victory in the tournament so far came at fellow Italian outfit Aironi in December. Treviso have not won in Scotland since their visit to Edinburgh & District in the 1996 European Cup. The four previous matches between the two teams in all competitions have all been won by the home side on the day.

Seymour is just coming back from injury, had he been 100% I am sure he would have started.
We won back to back games in the HC in Jan this year, in the league its the end of the 09/10 year when we made the playoffs. We won the last four of our regular season games.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
Still, I've always liked Shaw as a player so it's not a big deal. The key will be getting Dewey running hard over the advantage line and setting up some momentum, or bypassing him. Not easy for a winger playing off someone like Dewey.
Oh yes, I remember that finish to the 09/10 year. Glory days for Glasgow and Parks.
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scotland all to win this weekend........

Like it fES
I saw the very brief highlights of the Warriors/Leinster game and Dewey put in a monster tackle on one of the Leinster forwards - bloody hell never, ever thought I would see that ! Any way off to the pub then Firhill for thrills !

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
An abysmal performance after taking an early 7 -0 lead with a well worked try by Weir - they just stopped playing. Set pieces were woeful throughout. Kicking as bad as I have ever seen - 5 missed penalties and 2 straight on drop goals also missed. The young lad from Clydebank RFC who won the penalty competition at HT should give Weir and Wight some lessons in kicking. Honorable mentions to Rob Harley, Tom Ryder and Stuart Hogg - the rest rubbish esp. the front row - don't give up your day jobs.
I cannot imagine the awful atmosphere this type of performance would create in the urban wastes of Scotstoun with a poor crowd. Grim last week obviously a total fluke,

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
God what a depressing result. Anyone still think Weir should be our stand-off at the World Cup??
Come on Scotland, cheer me up here. Watching England this morning was painful.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Benetton Treviso
Should maybe add that kicking apart Weir looked sharp at first and he kicked a great conversion on his own try, which he also started and finished but Pyrgos was hopeless at SH - way better with Gregor on (!!). Scrum was bad but lineout was worse. Really felt for Rob Harley, the 20 year old captain, as he looked the only Warrior on show who was going to score a try - from a No.6. if only we had Bernie Stortoni and Wee Max we would have run up a cricket score as we seemed to have had 80% territory and 75% possession. Also there is no way on earth that Desperate Dan would have missed those goals - 21 points for gods sake ! This will be me if the Scotstoun move happens -
