If your opponent's shot lands in court on your side of the net, and then spins back over the net onto your opponent's side, you are allowed to reach over the net and play the ball, as long as you do not touch the net.

Always wondered whether you can hit the ball into the net (on your opponents side of course) and win the point. Bear in mind you will not have hit the ball onto your opponents court.

My old tennis coach, a delightful man called Ron Trinder, was also a professional umpire and he said that you coud lean over and hit the ball back into the net from your opponent's side so long as you did not touch the net. I remember it quite distinctly.

That's a pretty stupid rule really, if the one playing the delightful dropshot has to pay the consequence of hitting it too well. Player who made the ball bounce back to his side of the net should be awarded the point imo.

Rafa did it at the second AO fundraiser, or was it the first. It is allowed to reach over and hit the ball as long as you do not touch any part of the net with your body or racquet.

It is somewhere in here...
