5 suprise players of the season + 5 failures for the season
Who are the 5 players that suprised you in county cricket this season, and 5 players that you didnt expect to have such poor seasons but they did...
here are mine
5 suprises
1)Alan Richardson (wor) An old boy these days, took well over 50 f/c wickets this season for worcestershire this season helping to keep them up.
2)Steve Croft (Lan) Had a very good season with Lancs, and this was shown, because when chapple got injured he was handed the captaincy and done a very good job of that as well.
3)Linley (viscount) A fantastic season for Linley. Took the most amount of wickets he has ever taken in his career this season, and helped propel surrey to div 1 next year
4)David Masters (ess) 93 wickets for masters this year say no more.
5)Dawid Malan (Mid) This season he finally started to show more consientcy, and started to show why is he so hugely rated by fraser and middlesex
5 failures
1)Alexei Kervezee (Wor) Big things were expected of kervezee this year and he didnt really perform this season for worcs..
2)Stephen Harmison (Dur) Since being left out of england squads, harmy has declined badly, and now injuries are getting him as well, next season could be harmy's last
3)Ravi Bopara (Ess) We needed rav to perform for essex this year, and he didnt step up to the plate.
4)Neil Carter (War) Last year voted PCA player of the season, this year he has had an awful time of it, struggling to get back into war's side.
5)Mark Chilton (Lan) Left out of t20's to stay in cc mode, but was dismal this season and has now retired.

I don't think Ravi was too bad for you's.
Liam Plunkett or Shazhad possibly for disappointment of the year?

Plunketts poor with the new ball so i'm guessing that's why he's used late.

Ramps was my biggest disappointment from a Surrey perspective, hopefully the great man will come back fit and in form next season.

So why was it such a surprise that his performances improved?
How about young Middlesex 'keeper John Simpson, whose place was not even secure at the season's start yet took more first class victims (68) than anyone in the country,as well as averaging over 43 with the bat from number 6 or 7,usually scoring his runs when they most needed and contributing hugely to the county's championship success.

Hi Loverboy - welcome back! Must admit Simpson's progress had escaped my notice - impressive figures...
