New club and new handicap....
Joined North Weald today with no handicap certificate... As a Cat 1 player I shouldn't have to worry about that as the County maintain it.... however if they've lost it I'll be putting 3 cards in to get a new one...
Now what should those cards be I wonder? A couple of 85's and something a touch higher perhaps?

How does the handicap get worked, do you have to put your first 3 cards from comps in?

3 cards in... lowest of the 3 is worked against SSS with anything over a double calc'd as a double to get a handicap. (more or less)
And I think 100+ would be a bit cheeky. I'm coming off a 3.9 that was after a really bad season!

What happened to you, I am sure you said a while back on 606 that you were of about 1 or something.

Nice one, how does the new course compare to Woolston? Have they got a decent scratch team as well?
Got your text by the way, take it that's a yes??

Re: New club and new handicap....
Mac. Had a really bad season is all. Went up .1 in pretty much every event I played... 2 full shots in a year. Talk about irritating!
And yep that a yes D4S. Dunno about the scratch team. I'm not eligible this year now anyway. Course is a bit different. Fewer water hazards... longer par 4's generally. With less bunkering but more run off areas around the greens. It's a shot lower in terms of par but about the same length.
Par 3's are a lot harder I think. And it does have a stunning finish over the last 4 or so holes.

Bandit... Me? Never! I would never sink to the depths of obtaining a falsely high handicap... 9 perhaps?

Re: New club and new handicap....
Went and used the putting green and chipping green today... bit damp but running pretty well. And very subtly countored... gonna take a bit of reading these greens!
Then I played 4 holes. Wasn't bad for a man in rehab from a couple of broken toes. And they gave me a card with some credit for the driving range as part of the package. Don't know how much is on it... but nice little bonus.

Re: New club and new handicap....
Hmm google reckons I can get there from work in a little over an hour.
The rates look very resonable as well.
But this must mean you have to stick on 12 under after just 4 rounds of the eclectic!

You are more than welcome my friend... And THE RINGER is also up for a game as he's never played this track.
As for the eclectic... probably... But did you never work out a method for working with people playing different tracks? (Not that it matters... I'm struggling as a result of the prolonged layoff from this injury. I barely managed to leave myself 40 yards on the 320 yard 2nd hole! )

Re: New club and new handicap....
I was 15.4 before yesterday's Stableford.
On the tee at the par 5 9th, I'm on 18 points. Three shots later, I'm on the green 20 foot from the pin (Yup, I'm feeling good).
Three putts later and I'm annoyed - the head goes and I come back with 10 points for a total of 30
A 16 handicapper, it is, then.

Re: New club and new handicap....
My away days will have to be well thought out methinks.
I'm playing Tydd St Giles this friday (first serious venture outside for ........ ahem ....... 4 months!
End March will be Collingtree Park and I am strongly considering the Sunday at Bognor. But a quick whizz down there after work when there is enough light would be nice. Mind you now we are both playing on Peter Allis designed courses, you really should come up to my gaff first

It is a shame for another reason, as well - Last weekend, I had two non-qualifying rounds and had a couple of birdies and my first eagle at my club.

I'm way behind on Eclectic rounds only 2 cards in I believe been hard for me what with the snow and since that thaw has come its been hectic with the Scratch Winter matchplay rounds to be completed as we lost 4 playing weeks with the snow! Whens my last chance for getting cards in as played and ahem Won the matchplay final today so am looking to get back to scoring rounds and see what I can produce for the epileptic if my matchplay from is anything to go by I may be able to keep up with the El Banditos

Should be able to organise that easily. Who knows I might be using my bats well by then as well.

You have until the end of March Mav. Oh and congratulations on winning the matchplay today. I bet your new club loves you, a Johnny come lately with his brood, who wins all the silverware.

Would you not describe that as cheating. And we all know how you stand on cheating.

I can't help the system!
And it was never going to happen. 3.9 it remains... and I feel a bit of a bandit off that to be fair. BRING ON THE SEASON!

Can I muscle in on that? Make up that 4ball again and Me & OS can try to exact revenge on LJ & the Ringer?

No muscling required... Always happy to have a knock Smithers. I'll get the RINGER all setup for it.
