Andrew Mehrtens on England. Empty Andrew Mehrtens on England.

This is Andrew Mehrtens' take on England's chances for the RWC.

They will be preparing for a match against the French in the knowledge that they are easily capable of marching through their side of the draw.

Their outside backs are creative, industrious and dangerous (even if they weren't particularly so last night), while up front, they have a strong scrum and plenty of bulky workers, epitomised by the tireless Simon Shaw, one of the oldest competitors at the World Cup
.

In Jonny Wilkinson, they have a proven match-winner and territorial dominator, with the luxury of having Toby Flood to add a more attacking edge.

He talks about other teams as well if you are interested.

I have the greatest od repspect for Merthens and i think he speaks wel of England and the other teams. Reading between the lines i get the feeling that he would like to see a England All Black final.
