Graham Henry...
...suck it all up and give Nick Evans a call?
This isn't necessarily a discussion about Dan Carter and who his replacement is either, as, surely, with NZ so desperate to win this WC, should they not do everything in their power to achieve this? And, with Slade looking unlikely to be the man who would do this at 10, nor Weepu for that matter, should they not reconsider their NZ-based selection policy and nab a player who many believe to be the second best 10 in the world from Harlequins to do the business for them?
With Australia and, especially, South Africa having reassessed their position on this issue, are NZ really good enough to stick to only players who play in NZ (or in contest with NZ based players, like Muliaina)? It's an admirable position, and one I would agree with for almost every week within the four year cycle, but do they have the depth and quality to ignore someone as good as Evans? And if they are, who replaces Carter...?

Re: Graham Henry...
Why not, and whose is it? I'm not disputing the NZ attitude of not selecting overseas based players for any old game, but they're potentially three games away from the WC final; it's too close, yet far away enough, to bring in another ten who could do better than Weepu and Slade when it matters. And that player is Evans. So, why shouldn't they?

Re: Graham Henry...
It would be NZRFU policy I would assume.
Weepu is class, don't worry about it. And Slade is finding his feet.
The loss of Carter may focus the team and produce an extra 5% across the field.

Why would we want Evans back? He wasn't even close to making the All Blacks. He has been rubish since he came back from the northern hemisphere.

Re: Graham Henry...
GG makes a good point here.
Carter is gone, however there are a LOT of match winners within this side that have to step up.
A collective 5% increase in application by the other 15 guys should make a difference. Let's not forget that Slade/Weepu/Cruden will have world class players around them and can be guided (if you want a flyhalf being guided)
The loss of Carter is huge, just underlines how far ahead of everyone else he is because Slade as an allround operator would probably be better than say Toby Flood......
