BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
OK. MONEY MOUTH TIME
( or neck on block as usual !)
Wales 3 tries and conversions plus 3 penalties ------30 points
Ireland 2 tries and conversions plus 5 penalties ------- 29 points
a little cheat---a drop goal could well be extra to these scores

Re: BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
Ok, you asked for it:
Ireland 22 Wales 12
It will be a tight, frantic first half with a titanic battle at scrum time. I can see Wales getting the upper hand initially. Ireland have been starting slowly of late, soaking up pressure and standing tall in defence. Depending on the weather, there will be a lot of probing of each other's defences. Wales will try to punch holes in midfield and may succeed on one or two occasions. I would say it could be scrappy at the breakdown with neither side gaining a clear advantage. There will be kicks at goal...maybe 2 or 3 apiece, with one or other going into the break 9-6 to the good. There may even be a Welsh try!
In the second half Ireland will get down to business and start making in-roads into the Welsh at the breakdown. O'Gara will start kicking to the corners in an effort to pin Wales back.
The game should open up a bit with both teams starting to string phases together. I think Ireland's ball retention will be superior which would mean they will gain the upper hand. Ireland will have a period of relative dominance in an effort to put some distance on the scoreboard, perhaps crossing for a try near the posts and a second out wide. Wales will change the point of attack with possibly some chips over the defence causing some anxious moments, but the Irish defence will hold firm. One or two more kicks at goal for each side with mixed results.
Ireland finishing in the ascendency.
Of course, it could all be completely different.
I am chewing my nails as I write this!

Re: BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
In terms of Ireland V Wales I can't call it, it's too close.
However I'll bet my bottom dollar that a try will come from Shane Williams, Tommy Bowe and/or Brian O'Driscoll or possibly all 3!

Wales 3 - Ireland 0
ROG and Preistland miss 5 penalties each.
At 100mins, in overtime a penalty shootout looks likely.
Gethin Jenkins drop goal from halfway
Wales win

Wales by 2pts Ire 22 Wal 24
How?
Quick lineout taken with a replica ball thrown in by a angry Aussie supporter who couldn't sell his ticket.
England by 4pts
How?
All kicks from the boot of Wilko, no Flood, no wait Wilko?????
As for the other QF I'm not too worried it would be nice if ARG and AUS WON.

WHAT, only from halfway, I know you are being humble, but you're selling the man short.

To be fair, it had plenty to spare.

Wales to win 26-15. 2 converted tries and 4 penalties to 5 penalties. Wales to get off to a quick start and then be pegged back by ROG's boot until a late try from turnover ball as Ireland push for the win seals the result. Wishful thinking maybe!

Re: BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
Ireland beat Wales, but Wales outscore them 2 tries to 1 (or maybe 3 to 2)
England beat France, but play a mostly territory based game.
Harinordiquay spends a lot of time running at/through flood, but scramble defence gets him each time.... he gets MoM even though he's on the losing team.
New Zealand set new records for points scored in 1/4 final.
Australia show what good backs they've got... get beaten up quite badly, but still win.

Re: BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
Ok I think it will be
Ireland 16-15 Wales.
Wales score 2 trys convert one and miss the other with one penalty
Ireland with one try converted, two penalties and a last minute drop goal
England 10-3 France.
Worst match in the knockouts ever with one try in the second half
NZ 35-20 Argentine.
Tight and nippy until the end when it will open out a bit and NZ having that bit too much.
Oz 33-29 SA Brilliant match with lots of trys. AA Copper in the corner at the death with controversal TMO desision.

Re: BE BRAVE----THE FINAL SCORE--AND HOW
Ireland 24 - 16 Wales, after Wales leading at HT
England 13 - 22 France - just think it could be one of those days for France
Australia 28 - 17 SA - I'm hoping, praying we're on fire tomorrow.
NZ 57 - 9 Argentina - well I tipped +48, maybe +28 would have been better.
