Bell dropped, great chance for Bairstow. England to bowl.

Can only see India winning, but nothing would surprise me with this England side. They could certainly do with Morgan out there though, perfect conditions for his style of batting.
Re: England's domination or India's revenge
You are right (anything can happen with cricket), but due to the weak Indian bowling, i think England have a great chance.

WOW, lucky break for England, Finn got a fingertip touch to run out Patel, backing up. Remember Sachin?

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
Keeping it tight enough inside the powerplay overs, it's important not to let them get off to too much of a flyer.
Re: England's domination or India's revenge
They need wickets though. This is what happened in England, they set off steadily and then Raina and Dhoni tee'd off late innings. They should be able to do this a lot more effectively, and earlier in India and cause more carnage.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
Very true, what you don't want is India on 220/4 after 40 overs or something similar, as you'll be looking at chasing 330..
Re: England's domination or India's revenge
First 10 overs, 47 runs, good powerplay bowling by England. Finn,s bowling upto 96mph, impressive!!

I'd have taken 50/1 from 11 overs. Not magnificent but not to be scoffed at.
96mph? wow.
96mph? wow.
Re: England's domination or India's revenge
Yes, satisfactory, Great another wicket as i type, now a very good start .Should slow the rate even more now.

Swanny strikes in his first over yet again.
Gets Rahane, stumped by Kieswetter.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
Finny bowling 96mph?! I haven't been watching, but what I have been reading is that it is a slow pitch? What speeds are everyone else bowling?
Trademark for Swann, the first over wicket. Decent start for England, need to keep taking wickets though.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
I too was surprised by the bowling speed radar which said in the 4th over, Finn bowled a delivery at 96.7mph, because the pitch is playing low, which normally indicates a slow pitch, maybe a glitch. Or is Finn getting quicker?
Just seen, it was correct, 96mph, and Dernback also had one at 90.8mph, so pitch not too slow.

Gambhir gone, deceived by a slower ball from Dernbach, though not sure that hit him in line...

Speed is measured out of the hand, so pitch is irrelevant.
Looks a good decision by Bowden on first action replay, if confirmed it is an excellent decision as live I had that as not out.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
To echo Mike Selig, the speed is as it leaves the hand, and an 86mph ball for example is generally down at around 70-75 by the time it reaches the batsman.
Decent stuff from England, this.

Pitch holding up a fair bit already, a lot of shots played fractionally early. 250 will be a tough chase IMO.

Hi, good start for England, pitch very tricky, hard to hit boundaries, as stated previously 250, would seem to be a good score.

Not a bad start by England then. Its a shame that Moggs misses out on this tour, i think that he would have done well here

Pretty good from Swann given the Indians ability to play spin on their own grounds ![clap](/users/3014/26/22/82/smiles/1710857839.gif)

I don't think it's really a big enough series to avenge what happened in the summer but i'll guess they'd take some comfort from a whitewash.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
yeah, have to be ready.
Anyway, MS Dhoni getting his bash on again. Familiar sight.
Really don't think this series was neeed. Quite bored of these two against each other. Variety is the spice of life and i'd like to see someone else now.
Even Windies beating our kids was at least something fresh.

True Trebell, just not the same intensity as the English summer. But hold the comfort for the Indians.
Say for 5 matches. lol
They can have the T20.

we'll see. eng need to win one or two or they're just proving what we all know, that they struggle away from their own conditions.
but that seems to be true of everybody.

Regarding Dernbach being a good death bowler, 90% of the time i have seen him, he has been smacked about.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
agreed on Darnbache. He gets worked around the park but maybe that's because he keeps having to face players like Dhoni during PP's. Not good for anyones stats.
btw: someone above said 220 after 40, not far off. so their 330 after 50 correct then? though that last 10 overs will not contain a PP this time.
all the Indians hands went up to celebrate that Eng catch. wierd.

45 off 24 there. India sure play pp's well.
wish we could do that, though i think it's got a bit better.
Interesting now. 300 on without any pp in the last 10?

nah Dernbache is just rubbish isn't he. BBC are right his bowling is dross.
just giving India the match with loose rubbish. Though as i say pp's are a cruel time to bowl.

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
Early on i thought 250 was going to be tough to get. now 209 off 40 overs, may get 300. You never know with cricket, but it does look like the pitch is playing better. A couple quick wickets needed!!

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
I maintain that Patel isn't a good enough bowler to trouble international batsmen. He is easy to milk and good players will get after him in the last few overs. Getting 10 overs out of him every game isn't realistic. Pick Bresnan, Borthwick and Swann at 7,8,9.

Whya are our two 'part-timers' bowling in the last 10 overs anyway?

Re: England's domination or India's revenge
No but they are both part-time bowlers. Unless you have a particularly good part-time bowler (Yuvraj Singh say) you shouldn't expect to get 10 overs out of them. He's just been hit for a biggie by Jadeja which kinda reinforces the point. You need 5 bowlers in ODIs! Otherwise this kind of bowling effort will be repeated (decent start, game drifts a bit in the middle as Swann bowls well but without support, explosion possible at the end).
