Have you met any Boxers?
First topic message reminder :
Hi guys hope all is going well on the boards.
Just a bit of a friday wind down Topic. Has anyone met any boxing superstarts, have any good stories of when you met them or even are good friends with a pro boxer?
My only claim to fame here is meeting Chris Eubank outside a gym in Watford! Nice guy and he was happy to have a picture with me.

Eubank doesn't drink or eat pork - he's a muslim
Who said it was for him?

Can still have a soda and lime or diet coke though. It's not Ramadan.

Exactly. And besides, the last pack of pork scratchings I attempted to eat probably contained so little pork that they'd be acceptable to any muslim anyway.

Re: Have you met any Boxers?
I'm lucky enough to work in telly, so i've met quite a few both on shoots I've done and in studio.
Khan, Froch, Calzaghe, Hatton, McGuigan, Woods (clinton), Cleverley, Degale. Soon to meet Tim Witherspoon. Most i've met twice.
All very nice and chatty with no egos. Khan gets a lot of stick, i can say from experience of meeting him a couple of times that he's a very nice guy. Very down to earth.
The highlight was doing a shoot at Froch's house where he was kind enough to show us round and introduce us to his son. More importantly than that (for a boxing fan) i got to see his 2 WBC belts and his british title. And Rachel is as beautiful in real life as you'd expect.
Found Hatton to be the most popular amongst other sportsmen who all wanted to chat to him.

My dustman, is Rendall Munroe. He winks at my wife every Friday morning, the wife loves it! We both always make time to say hello and wish him luck on his forth coming bout. Rehndall is a good ambassador for the sport.

I'd KTFO him if he winked at my wife.

yeah, so is Nassem Hamid, but that didn't stop him getting his non muslim girlfriend pregnant before they were married,or Ali shagging anything that moved, funny but a few of these religious boxers seem to talk it better than they walk it.

If half the stories I've heard about Hamed being knocked out by random people's friends in Sheffield are true then he's been sparked more times than Eric Crumble.

Re: Have you met any Boxers?
In the early to mid seventies I used to see now and again the British and Commonwealth heavy weight title holder Danny McAlinden who lived just round the corner from my school. Covered in my article ''The Only British Boxer To Beat Clay'' posted last week.
I also exchanged a friendly hello with Frank Bruno at Thorpe Park about ten years ago. I didn't offer to take shake hands for fear of having my fingers crushed!

Can't compete with some of you lads. Best I've done was almost walk into Jonny Nelson in B&Q in Sheffield and say "sorry mate" and saw Herol Graham somewhere similar.
As far as Naz and Ali are concerned. They were all mouth and show. Their religion was part of that so no surprise they were hypercites. Ali taking his mistress to rumble in the jungle instead of his Mrs being a case in point that he wasn't a clever as his practiced one liners made him out to be.. lol
