Cartoons for Adults Empty Cartoons for Adults

Post by JPX Wed 19 Oct 2011, 3:07 pm

I was babysitting my nephew the other day and he had control of Sky, obviously, and as I was sat there watching these kids cartoons, I found myself strangely enjoying them. It got me thinking, cartoons are a lot more tailored towards entertaining kids, but with a bit in there for the adults watching. You know, you laugh when he doesn't and get the look...

I was enjoying The Regular Show, Futurama, and obviously there's The Simpsons. Plus, films such as Up, Flushed Away and the like, all fall into this category.

So which cartoons that entertain kids and adults alike do you enjoy?

The Regular Show and Adventure Time are two of the best cartoons to come out in a long time they are hillarious especaily Regular Show, the comedy, the weirdness its like a Ren and Stimpy for a new generation.

Also Avatar the legend of the Air Bender (not the one with the blue guys) and Generator Rex have to get a mention

Amazingly, Spongebob has it's fair share of adult references.
Anyone see the episode with the Monkees Davy Jones, playing Davy Jones owner of the locker?
How many under 10s would get that reference?

Haven't seen that episode but agree Hoggy_Bear.

I think Futurama is the same. There is an episode where the insanely funny Sapp Brannigan is trying to woo Leela. Some serious adult humour in that one!

I actually dont mind watching sponge bob. Its actually quite clever and stupid at the same time.

My favourite episode has to be the one with doodlebob in

The Life and times of Tim. A show meant for adults and not suitable for kids!

It wasn't from a cartoon but i was watching the den (on RTE 2) once about 10 years ago and the presenter (Damien McCaul) was talking to the two puppets (sockey and dustin) also on the show. I think he was reading out jokes sent in by the viewers.
But when he finished sockey said " I will tell you a joke................ Damien's wages."

Thought that was very funny.
