And it is admittedly a big if, but none the less, if they do, does that let England off the hook? Management, team and all. After all it is surely no disgrace to go out early if you happen to meet the eventual world cup winners in the quarters........

...............then I'll be hearing about it, I live in France and in all likelihood will get it rubbed in my face from all quarters, especially as they will have beaten Wales en route.

The title of world champs will not amend anything, England's performance will remain lamentable whatever happens. Wales won't be off the hook either for having had all we needed to win, yet utterly failing to capitalise.

If France win, all the psychiatric counsellors in the world should be put on standby and every cliff and high place in Kiwidom will have to be policed, because the Kiwi public are so up for this that i fear for their sanity 'En masse' if they lose this time!!

Which is why i'm crossing everything in the very meagre hope that France may upset the apple, or Kiwicart.

they were a top team and at home, had the most amazing players and to proove how good they were won the euro's in 2000

I want France to win playing the kind of miraculous game they are occasionally capable of. I dont think its likely this time, but they do have some exceptional players even if they have been all over the place as a team.

...I would be gutted and would urge a rapid rethink as to hoe the WC is structured/refereed.We all want the best 2 sides in the World to be in the Final.We have not got this.Shame really.

I wouldnt feel any better having being "beaten" (maybe I should say lost to) the world champions, because they played awfully throughout the entire tournament, and if it weren't for exceptional circumstances, Wales wouldn't have lost.

I suppose that this situation encapsulates the attraction of sport in that logic/sense/fairness does not always prevail.It would be tedious if it did.C'est la vie!

...it'll be down to one or both of two things that were speculated years in advance. The incredible France that everyone knows exists but doesn't always show its face turned up, and NZ choked.

Either way, it shouldn't be an excuse for the different reasons that England & Wales lost to them.

...I will applaud the forward pass, the sending off of five of our pack, the awarding of the two tries even though Clerc was clearly scraping the chair leg of the seat in the 5th row, the 5 missed conversions, the knife wound to little Crudens test^%%cles, and then wildly cheer the dussatoir drop goal to win the match in super extra time at 3am in the morning after a 38-38 deadlock... I'm sure I missed something...

Its a RWC Final - both teams under unique pressure
France - might not even come to Eden park, but then again they might...none of us know with authority (even mystiroakey)
NZ are the favourites yet their history at RWC hardly lends itself to a convincing victory
France are in disarray yet this has galvanized them and they are doing what they need to do to get through, the ugly W is still a W.

If France win they deserve credit for being able to lift their game.

the only way france will win is if the NZRU have had a few stressfull meetings with there bank manager and undercover meetings with the pakistani crciket team.

France have the players to do it. They have beaten them before. Just need to ignore the coach. He's leaving anyway. No recriminations. Specially if they win. France play so much better when nothing is expected of them. Sooo, it's game on!

In my opinion France are being wirtten off too early, although on my other thread(So France and New Zealand in the Final) I did say and still do that given are the 2 semi final games went you cannot see anything other than a New Zealand win.

But France do have this ability to come out and take every team by surprise. Although going on recent games, they will have to play alot, lot better than they have done so far.
