As there are far too many people on here looking to put the boot into Wales. It seems like the RWC has brought out the old 606 type poster who is only interested in winding people up. If only we could have sensible debate instead of ridiculous point scoring. Won't be on here for a while as it's too depressing to see the same old idiots making the same predictable idiotic comments.

The vast majority of posts that I have read have been very complimentary towards Wales?

I've perused these boards and the old 606 for years and you make a valid point, but as you say, it's the same old idiots. Expect it from them, feel a little pity and just skip on past the nonsense. Its only when they get a usually reasonable and well balanced poster to 'bite' that it degenerates. I usually don't even read what they've put - rarely adds anything!

Speaking of ridiculous point scoring, what about that forward pass try? But all joking aside. Wales can go out of the world cup with pride. Beaten in a very competitive 3rd/4th play off by an Australian team that were one of the favourites for the competition is no disgrace, missing both captain and first choice Pivot (who in my mind will both be in the running for IRB player of the year this time next year).
They behaved like professionals, won the support of the locals and certainly looked the class northern hemisphere outfit.
Wales have undoubtably thrown off the "village idiots" tag and after their second best world cup result will now be hot favourites for the 6 Nations.
I wouldn't worry about those trying to put the boot in. It's normal that when a team is going well and other fans start to get nervous, then the barbs and detractors come out to bat.
Well done to Wales, and I hope this is the start of a return to the successes of the former eras for a proud rugby nation.

Mckay - I've felt the way you do from time to time. I know its hard. What I find the best cure is to write an article about something completely unrelated like something about the grassroots or club game.
Re: I can't bring myself to respond to any posts...
To be honest, I have seen very few people on here looking to put the boot in to Wales.
Yes, some are suggesting that Wales may not be as good as people are saying and pointing to a win loss ration of 4 to 3 as evidence of this, but if that is their opinion then they are entitled to voice it as long as they are not rude or abusive about it.

Or take the Jeckyll and Hyde approach - I did it once or twice on old 606 I might try it again:
Take a subject and write two articles; each with completely opposing views and try make them as convincing as possible

did you by any chance do debating at school?
That is a wonderful place to learn the art of debating opposite sides of a subject you have strong believes in. Teaches you to listen to an opposing opinion as well.

Man up mckay, you ought to know better than to lend the idiots any sense of value. Concentrate on Wales in itself and let the pride flow as thick as many of us are letting it, a few sparse spoutings shouldn't make any difference to that

Re: I can't bring myself to respond to any posts...
They could very well do. It depends on the players. For example Andies Bekker is probably my favourite second row in world rugby at the minute. Lose Bakkies bring in Bekker and thats a step closer. I think de Villiers is a clown and it would kill me to see him as a world champion in any field. However a new coach would change that. Same with Lambie or de Jongh both of whom I rate highly. Stop playing Smit and get that guy who's name I can't spell Oostheuysn in propping too.
The reason I don't like SA at the minute is several reasons:
De Villiers, Certain Players, The Fact they are World Champs and I Want New Name on the Cup, the culture of race relations thats still a part of SA rugby culture, the borign way they play at times.
Most of those look to be changing - no reason not to get behind them.

Re: I can't bring myself to respond to any posts...
Well smit is definitely retired, PDV might have the last say due to politics. The manner in which we lost to australia isnt going to help us get rid of him.
There has been so much hype in SA about the reasons we lost to OZ that he may convince them that he should have another crack at it. I hope that doesn't happen.
Bakkies says he is not finished, but I think he is.
Coenie Oosthuizen in combination with Bismarck, Bekker, Brussow, Alberts and Burger will most likely make us the forward pack with the most loose forwards on the pitch.
We'll see how it pans out in the next few months.

He is a specialist 1, can't tell you why he was used at three other than Naka Drotske experimenting.
He unfortunately has been injured now and won't take part in the semi final tomorrow.

In fact it might not be a bad idea if he can turn into a 3, we have Beast at 1, who is not bad, Jannie du Plessis is 28 and we really have no quality back up for him.

SA do need to develop a decent tighthead, they have depth in all other positions in the pack.
What do you think of an Elstadt/Bekker partnership in the engine room? Can they be the new Botha and Matfield?

Ozzy, to be honest I don't really know who would be best partnered with Bekker. For me that is probably the biggest head ache for who ever will be the next Bok coach. Their are a number of guys standing a chance like Juandre Kruger and others, at this stage I think the super rugby tournament will be crucial to see who will fit best, the question really is what will add to Bekker, he has Vicotr's line out prowess, he is a better athlete than Bakkies or Victor, an excellent runner and defender, he has a high work rate, so what will compliment him?

Biltong - on a separate note where in SA is the rugby heartland? Cape Town, JBerg, Pretoria?
Re: I can't bring myself to respond to any posts...
I'm a big believer in club/province/franchise pairings working at international level Biltong, which is why I think Elstadt may be the way forward with Bekker for the Boks.

Don't give in to the Wums Mckay, Wales played well and deserved to make the final.
Anyone whos ever played the game knows that they were robbed by a moment of madness, and on the plus side the young players in the team have been the ones who performed the best, that can only be a good thing.

Given that Wales had arguably THE hardest group to play in,and a Semi-Final exit,
For a young side they accquited themselves well, running the Boks close, beating a passionate Samoa.
Let me ask the Wales fans here this,WHAT realistically were your expectations.
Many pre-RWC were expecting a pool exit, the loss of Priestland and Warburton two of your stars effected the results.
You have many good youngsters blooded here who will shine in the future
.Yes you could argue Goal kicking decided some of your games, but MANY top kickers had poor stats this time.

I can sympathise with the OP. I am sick to death of having an opinion and being followed by wums. I cant even compliment Wales' efforts at this RWC as a neutral without it being called 'bunk' or being told to justify my views of France.

I think a lot of people get confused by the term wum, in most cases its just banter, I guess it all depends how sensitive you are.
Cheer up everybody its a Friday and the RWC is almost over, which means more club rugby which lets face it is miles better.

Look you got your view shouted down because you just posted " they finsihed 4th" as an explanation for why they are better than France ( who srae going to finish second) If you cant offer a proper argument that makes any sense then expect to get question. Franjkly Im sick of a website where you cant crtisize poorly thought out posts without getting accussed of being a WUM. Critisizing and questioning Wales isnt WUMing if its done fairly. Its like trying to have a conversation about gypsies on teh Guardian letters page in here today.
As a Welshman and Wales supporter Im allowed to question how good they really are. Sorry if you dont like peopel disagreeing with you, but at least I gave proper reasons for my view rather than just posting circular logic about "over rating" which is an utterly meaningless phrase anyway.

Biscuit is right - Wales leave the RWC as the form team in the NH by a clear margin with only Ireland looking to offer any realistic opposition. This statement is evidenced by their embarassing defeat to the french last week where in spite of playing with 14 men for over 60 minutes they dominated France in all facets but continued to throw the game with woeful kicking at goal as again they did today. Wales will return, disappointed but in the knowledge that they are in great shape as the top NH side at present.

Right, Wales are a decent side beacuse they play well, not because they finsihed 4th and lost a lot of games. France are a decent bunch of players not because they have somehow got to a world cup final but because they have some genuine quality that needs shaping into a team thats functioning to its potential.

PSW, can't believe you said Gypsies. You just discredited your whole argument. Surely everyone knows you can't go around saying Gypsie.
Eirebilly, surely France have shown themselves to be a superior side, if through nothing else, then their world cup pedigree. Three finals now and a chance at taking the crown home, despite playing well below what we all know they can achieve?

PSW is not a Welsh supporter. He is an England Supporter. He changed his allegance recently whilst still persisting to slate anything Welsh on this forum.
Ignoring him is the most peaceful solution I have found.

Woah waoh woah can we go debate this elsewhere?
The argument wasnt "are France or Wales better than a duck" ..the argument was is more about is a sides placing in the world cup on its own a good way to rate a side when you have a much worse performing one going through ahead of qa well performing one when a side thats clealry better than both wentout in the round prior to that.
The fallout was more to do with the lack of thought and prissiness in billys meaningless declration than our opinions on the sides relative strengths.
He then continued it over here to moan that peopel must be wumming Wales if they question his poor logic.
Thats the relevance to this thread. That some peopel seem to mistake debate for wuumming, in his case id suggest his aggressive style and lack of explantion, balance or thought was the WUM...not me for describing his logic as bunk.

If you are going to have a go at me then get your facts straight. I said that i felt that Wales were not over-rated, it was my opinion on the topic asked. Nothing more, nothing less, someone else brought Fance into it not me. Just read your own posts for a change.
PSW is not a Welsh supporter. He is an England Supporter. He changed his allegance recently whilst still persisting to slate anything Welsh on this forum.
Ignoring him is the most peaceful solution I have found.
No I switched my allegiance beacuse England were out, and I have supported Wales since. I have posted many times praising them and expressed my regret that they went out.
What I do is question both sides of an argument, and debate with peopel when i think they are wrong,. Sometimes i make jokes and engage in banter too. But really what I want is people to be balanced and realistic.
Thats not wunmming,m its getting people to be open minded.

Have to respectfully disagree with you there eirebilly. I've read a lot of PSW's posting history and he seems like a forthright chap with good honest opinions backed by a fair amount of knowledge. Good debate is what it's all about surely and anyone can be forgiven for the odd excursion into wistful wummery for a bit of light relief surely?

Its a shame that you seem to take more pleasure in doing this than actually debating.
really where have i called you names? where have i been abussive?
You are the one weho bought this to another thread an have dragged it into an argument, as well as making things up and psoting perosnal attacks on me.
You didnt offer the esxaplantion of your view ( which contradicted your initial point) untill after my "bunk" comment which I stand by, and which you clealry agree with since you turned round and said that yeyou based your view on more than wales' position in teh world cup.
The daftest thing is that we largely agree...so I dont undersatabnd why you feel the need to turn this into a personal attack.
As I said is youre going to get this sensitive to peopel questioning your logic then frnakly id rather you didnt post here. Theres no need to get dragged into personal attacks on people and question their repuations just because they disagree with you.
Questioning Wales' record in the cup is not wumming, theres one thread that clealry was a WUM...in which I defended Wales.

Fair dues fushnchups, i just dont having my on topic comments be refered to as bunk, be likened to a gypsie, be called prissy.
Not questioning his knowledge at all. I have never been accused of being a WUM or abusive on here and find his comments to be very distastefull.

Well you have now, congratulations.
Your repsonse was prissy, you made an argument that had no logic ( was bunk) , and now you are making personal attacks on multiple threads which is WUMing so congratualtions. You have wound me up.
You have made peronal attacks on me and made up things ( i did not call or compare you to a gypsy for a start)
I find it distastful too, so now we are in agreement on everything can I get a hug please?
Honestly this is ridculous!
