Great try for Welsh, lovely inside ball and great line from Thrower from full back.

Bristol inexperience in the midfield showed though, was a huge hole that opened up for Thrower to go through.

Jayzus did you see the sideburns and tache on the Welsh loosehead, quality.
Shame he can't scrummage for shoite though, looks very tall and lean for a prop to be honest.

Agreed that this Exile team could do with a bit more punch in the set piece if they have ambitions of Premiership domination...!

Sadly maes, even if they win this division at a canter they wouldn't be going up to the Premiership, as Old Deer Park is not up to scratch to meet the ground criteria, which is a shame.

They might as well just ring fence the Premiership.

Re: Bristol vs London welsh
it does make a bit of a mockery of having divisions. how are the smaller teams meant to develop better grounds? there just isn't the money there unless they get a bigger share of the tv rights. RFU showing itself to be short sighted again

Re: Bristol vs London welsh
I think at present only Leeds and Bristol have the facilities to go up this year, although I think Cornish Pirates are making improvements which may be completed before the start of next season which may also make them eligible to be promoted.
For what it's worth I think it's bollix. I understand you want to have certain standards of facilities in the top tier, but if you win the Championship I think you should be allowed to go up and given 3 years to get the ground up to scratch.

Re: Bristol vs London welsh
Here is the league as it stands in the English Championship
1 Bristol 28
2 London Welsh 25
3 Cornish Pirates 23
4 Doncaster 23
5 Bedford 22
6 Rotherham Titans 22
Welsh win this they go top. a Bonus point and defending a more than 7 point lead would put them 1 ahead in the Championship...
All they would need then is a ground share or a 10,000 seater stand donation... should their form continue
Brizzle missed a penalty as the ref blows the whistle leaving Welsh winning 10-23 at halftime...

Re: Bristol vs London welsh
The daft thing is, Leeds currently sit 9th, which should mean they have no real chance of clawing their way to the top and gaining promotion, but due to the ludicrous play off system in the Championship, they only need to move up 1 place to 8th, and could still conceivably win the whole shebang and get promoted again. It is a mental system.

System has no logic at all...!
I think if Welsh did make it that there would be funds made available.. There are a great deal of valuable connections in that club...
I heard rumours when I was there for the Earth Quake match

Re: Bristol vs London welsh
Would love to see it maes. Other teams currently outside of the top flight in England that I would one day like to see back there are London Scottish, Richmond and Blackheath.
Would also like to see Cornish Pirates make the step up.
The Premiership is a great league, but I do feel that it is stagnating a little and changes need to be made to the structure of it, and to the Championship, but that is for another thread and another day I think.
Back to this game, I am looking forward to seeing if Jack Moates gets on for Welsh, as he is a London Irish academy boy on loan, and we have high hopes for him.

Welsh need to pull their fingers out now. They have a great backline and an athletic pack... Bristol are beating them up upfront, need to run them ragged...

Bristol pulled a penalty back there... 25-26 63 mins gone
but they have given away two penalties to Welsh in the last five mins. .. now a free kick at a scrum
plenty of fight in both teams though

8 in 8 games for Jackson, that's some tryscoring record for a back row forward.

great turn over, and I think Gordon Ross should be angry at himself for that clearance kick, it barely made the 22.
