RIP Marco Simoncelli
An incredibly sad week in the world of motorsport continues with the death of Marco Simoncelli today.
Please post your condolences below.

Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Massive loss to the motor racing world. He was my favourite of the current GP racers and he had such a bright future ahead of him.
Just hope Dani Pedrosa feels an absolute tool for not properly clearing the air with Simoncelli.
R.I.P Marco, massive loss.

I see the race is still on the BBC's program listing. Surely they aren't going to show it?

Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Italy have announced that all sporting events taking place today will observe a minutes silence in respect of Marco with both Milan sides the first to offer their condolences to Marco and his family.
A great gesture.

He was a very special rider who showed world class ability on a very average bike.

Glad to see the Italian nation are showing their respects to a truly greater driver. Really was taking far too early, still had so much to give!

Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Jorge Lorenzo said he could kill someone or himself with his riding technique, and I bet he's absolutely gutted. I bet a few riders will be devastated they didn't clear the air with him (Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovi).
The worst part about this crash was it had nothing to do with Simo's riding style, it was just very, very bad luck.
My condolences to everyone who knew him. Even I'm devastated, I had a tear in my eye. A rider taken away too soon who could well have been challenging for honours next season.
R.I.P Marco.

They couldn't have avoided him at all.

I know. I doubt that's any consolation to either of them though.

I doubt it is either, Rossi looked destroyed. Him and Marco were close friends.
Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Steve Parrish mentioned it might well be the end of Rossi now.

I hope it is, for his sake, they guy has nothing to prove to anyone, and it'd be tragic of anything happened to him if his mind wasn't 100% on the job at hand.
He's got ludicrous amounts of money, his earning potential from TV work and ad deals will always be immense and he's a pretty handy rally driver too.
Be nice if he called it a day and went and did something else.
RIP Marco Simoncelli.

Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Rossi has needed to retire for a couple of years now, and if this doesn't force him to call it quits then I honestly don't know what will.
Simoncelli really is going to be missed!!

R.I.P Sideshow Bob as he was known. I'm still in shock right now, even though it happened hours ago.
I personally think this will make Rossi even more determined to come back and win 1 more title, for him and Marco.

Exactly, Rossi will win a world title on the Duke before he retires for Marco

Re: RIP Marco Simoncelli
Not really a Moto GP fan but saw footage of the accident on the news and it looked pretty horrific.
Another tragedy like this, so soon after Dan Wheldon's death is just too much.
My condolences to Simoncelli's family and friends. May he rest in peace.

A black week for motorsport. I loved Marco's style of racing, and he was definately a future world MotoGP champion.
