First topic message reminder :

Who in your opinion have the best assets in the following categories? (Of the past 20 years.)

Best jab;
best right cross;
best hook;
best uppercut;
best chin;
best footwork;
best ring genralship;
best stamina;
best fundamentals;
fastest hands.

I know this is a bit short and sweet; but hoping to create some debate over who are the best fighters of the modern era in some key areas!

Remember him mentioning Quartey and his jab on the Ring feature "The best i faced"

Best jab: Ike Quartey -- He had an incredible jab. The special thing about it was that he threw it from his chin or sometimes he would leave it loose in the air. You wouldn’t notice him throwing it. His jab was very powerful, one of his best weapons. And when it landed, it really hurt. It didn’t sting; it hurt. Like a hammer coming down on you.

Super, me and Mrs Sugar Boy had our first Sweetie Jr back in November, he's 4 months now and thriving. It's a truly amazing thing, you're a lucky guy - treasure every moment mate. Good luck to you & mrs superfly.

Lewis best Jab? You have to be kidding me. Loved Hamed's corkscrew uppercut. Mickey Ward had the best left hook for me, especially to the body. Ring generalship is easily Floyd. All boxers he has faced fights at his tempo.

Guess you missed the Castillo fight or even the Chavez fight then.

Lewis had a great jab, dominated other heavies with it, quick powerful, very formidable.

Hamed put a lot of good men down with those uppercuts.

The second Castillo fight?

As for Lewis' jab, it didn't have that snap.

Azania if you're expecting D4 to give mayweather a smidgen of credit for any of his skills you'll be waiting til hell freezes over. D4 claims to know boxing but lets favouritism cloud his objectivity. For example this is the guy who has repeatedly told us that if mayweather & manny were to fight he'd call it 90/10 in mannys favour (yes you did read that correctly, NINETY-TEN in mannys favour). Yet he called manny v marg only 60/40 in mannys favour! Thats the level of irrational thought process you're dealing with with him on this subject. Other than that he's alright.

I wonder how he'd call Manny/SSM bearing in mind the manner in which Floyd schooled SSM.

Mayweather fought the Chavez fight at the pace he wanted to, he knew he could slowly break him down on the inside and changed tactics beautifully throughout the fight, a total demolition job. He was poor in the first Castillo fight but if that's the only thing you have to hold against his ring generalship your clutching at straws.

Lewis controlled things with his jab like no one else could so consistently, it may have lacked snap now and then but he used it to control distance rather than to inflict damage.

Dunno, maybe 65/35 in mannys favour? He was bricking it in the last few weeks before the marg fight, making posts about how manny had recently been at deaths door with the flu (a day off training with a cold), how he was having to 'pick the kids up from school' and would that affect his schedule etc. This despite the rest of us confidently telling him marg was a slow, one dimensional plodder who'd fought once in nearly two years, that stylistically he was made for manny and the only problem he presented was that of physical size and manny would own him. Which is exactly what happened.

In the build up to manny v SSM D4 will be on here everyday telling us its mannys toughest ever fight, mosley is a puncher who likes guys to come at him, manny is a politician now, it has FOTY potential, mosley had 17 months ring rust and had overtrained for mayweather but for manny he's back to near his best, there are problems in mannys training camp blah blah blah. Just wait...

SSM is a few years short of drawing a pension. How can he be improving?
