Gimmicks.
Just getting a bit bored this evening so I thought I'd leave my first article. Just a few questions your welcome to answer on the variety of Gimmicks that Superstars have used throughout the good and bad years of the WWE. Grateful for your thoughts and comments.
1 - Your favorite gimmick on a certain Superstar ever?
2 - Your favorite gimmick on a certain Superstar in the WWE today?
3 - A gimmick that never really worked on a certain Superstar?
4 - A gimmick you never thought would work on a certain Superstar but turned out working on him/her?
5 - The most controversial gimmick ever used?
6 - A gimmick you never really got?
Little article, appreciate your thoughts .

Re: Gimmicks.
1) Has to be the original Deadman gimmick on the Undertaker in 1990, it revolutionised the industry.
2) It would probably be the Phantom gimmick for Cody Rhodes.
3) RockaBilly, a waste of time for a good superstar.
4) The Phantom gimmick for Cody again.
5) Paul Bearer's gimmick as Kane's father, it was edgey and had some good twists.
6) The Disciple in WCW, it was a really dull idea and Beefcake should never have been near the Main Event at the time.

1) The American Bad Ass. Was my first time watching the Undertaker and I fell in love with it. Probably had another few years in it.
2) R-Truth. The guys hella entertaining.
3) Worlds Largest Love Machine Viscera - bleh. No thanks.
4) Vito in a dress - An oft forgot gimmick from SmackDown circa 05. Who would have thought he would have gotten as over as he did in a dress? I dont think that would have worked with anyone.
5) Muhammed Hassan - Not inof itself, but the timing really didnt help.
6) Sting's Joker gimmick. - No doubt he took the Scarecrow gimmick and argueably made it his own, but Heath, Jack and Mark are tough acts to follow, and he hasnt pulled it off in my eyes. I know hes not actually meant to be the Joker of Batman lore, but the gimmick as a whole doesnt do it for me.

1) Edge as the Ultimate Opportunist . Cashed in 2 MITB and made me think of how much i miss this guy . Then again , he couldn't carry on
2) Dolph Ziggler's ' I am Perfection ' , reminds me of Mr Perfect
3) Shelton Benjamin's Gold Standard . I know he was good , but they way he was booked was appalling .
4) Charlie Haas dressing up as other superstars eg : Stone Cold Steve Haastin or Haas Hogan .
5) The Ultimate Warrior because his character was mad , and it made him and his life go mad and crazy too , but his character was fun to watch.
6) The Highlanders ( Robbie and Rory McAllister ) , never really got to grips with what they meant , and got bored of them easily .

1 : Gangrel (and the Brood). I absolutely loved it. The music, the entrance, the bloodbaths, the attire - everything was awesome.
2) Have to agree with R Truth. Though the one man rock band is up there.
3) The Blue Blazer - that was probably the death of Owen Hart's career.
4) The American Bad-Ass Undertaker. I never thought that would catch on. To take someone with a perfect gimmick, and repackage with a totally new one. I was suprised it was so popular.
5) Naked Mideon? Or maybe Sgt Slaughter's Iraq sumpathiser gimmick.
6) Zack Ryder. John Morrison. Dude Love.

Undertakers came out and said he prefered being the American Bad Ass as it was more real to him. I prefered it to the Deadman aswell. I felt he had alot more character and personality. Plus his heel turn was amazing.
"Are you gonna kiss his ass?"
"Hell no im not gonna kiss his ass!"
"...Are you better than me?"

Re: Gimmicks.
1 - Million Dollar Man Ted Dibaise. I just loved the way he could buy anything or anyone.
2 - R-Truth's conspiracy/crazy man act has been excellent
3 - Lex Luger, given the biggest push but still couldn't deliver as the all American Hero/Hulk Hogan mark 2
4 - Goldust - Hated this gimmick originally but in time it's evolved & grown on me
5 - Easily Mohammed Hussain should of just ran with it
6 - Boogey Man - The guy eats worms, he's not scary in the slighest just a complete freak

Re: Gimmicks.
Spivey was a great worker, he really nailed the Psychological aspect of Wrestling, he was up there with Jake Roberts and Raven in terms of controlling the crowd, he was in the WWF in the mid 80s and teamed with Mike Rotundo (IRS) as part of the US ExpressBrady12 wrote:Gaff can you expand on Waylon Mercy? He also teamed with Sid Vicious n the Sky Scrapers then when Sid got injured teamed with Taker, infact I'm sure I read Taker credited Spivey with teaching him how to draw in the crowd and use the crowds energy to control matches/angles
His Waylon Mercy gimmick was based on Robert De Niro's character in Cape Fear
Youtube him and watch his vignettes

Re: Gimmicks.
Just have he looks better than the Razor Ramon character based on Scarface. Just seen a squash match against a young Jeff Hardy on Raw in 95. Looks the business loved the hand shake before hand & his face as he applies the sleeper!!

4) JBL. From Bradshaw of the APA to the rich John Bradshaw Layfield and a 10 month World Championship reign. Who would have predicted that?
