Billy Sharp
I'm sure you all probably know by now but last night Billy Sharp captained Doncaster Rovers, two days after the death of his two year old son. After scoring, he revealed a message on his under shirt saying "That's for you Son!"
I'm sure you'll all join me in saying R.I.P to his son and also applauding the fortitude of Billy, himself.
An emotional night for sure at the Keepmoat Stadium, but a footballer also gained a countries respect.
R.I.P Louie Sharp.

Amazing he played. I think many would have understood if he didn't. R.I.P. Louie.

Re: Billy Sharp
Very sad news my heart goes out to the family , my mate was at the game and texted me afterward and said Billy got a standing ovation from both sets of fans before the game and after he scored . Football coming together .
Billys son Luey was only 2 days old .

Re: Billy Sharp
Very brave of Billy to do that.
I also applaud the ref who didn't book him for taking his shirt off

Quite right he was not booked. Praps it might lead to a change of heart about the whole shirt off/celebration booking farce. For heaven's sake, a 15-yr-old who scored on his debut in the Football League at the weekend was booked for hugging his mum!

Re: Billy Sharp
As a referee myself I completely understand that sometimes the laws need to be bent to allow for this sort of situation, I wholeheartedly agree in not booking him last night. It must of been so hard to play and to score and dedicate it to the memory of his son is remarkable. A very brave man indeed

Re: Billy Sharp
I can't imagine how Billy found the strength to go out and play...maybe he did it as a tribute to little Louie. I can't ever remember being pleased before when Boro concede a goal, but I was cheering for him too. Fantastic strike and the t-shirt was the perfect way for Billy to share his loss with the fans.

Re: Billy Sharp
God this is tragic, I thought it was a new born who had complications, never realised the little fella was 2 years old, I've not really got an opinion on him playing but the only thing I'd say is if it helped Billy, even just for a couple of hours then good luck to him

Re: Billy Sharp
The BBC definitely reported it as his two year old son but have since changed it.
Tragic story and I wish Billy all the best.
