Eric Cantona
If you were to take a fit 1992-97 Cantona and drop him into today's football where do you believe he would sit in terms of recognition?
Undoubtedly the first superstar of the Premier League era and the catalyst in Man Utd's domestic dominance but on the European stage he was rather ordinary.
He probably retired a couple of years too early but that seemed to be a combination of him losing his zest for the game and his frustration at being overlooked by the French national team. It's laughable that Stephane Guivarch was their first choice striker at the 08 World Cup....
Anyway today we have the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Snjedier, Ribery, Silva, Ozil....I could go on.
So would Cantona slide into the top bracket of world football or would he sit just below the summit?
Cheers guys.
