Did the NZRFU make a profit!!!
Out of the Rugby World Cup, or did they make a huge loss. Cannot find any information about this, but i did notice on another thread when the head line was How will the All Blacks do next year? Some one replied, (they will go broke).
Is the finance of the NZRFU realy that bad? I meen now they have won the rugby world cup, hasn't their finances changed at all.
I thought that rugby was the most supported sport in NZ, or is this just say so.
If the NZRFU do go bust, what will this do to rugby all over the World not just in NZ?
Any one any Idea?

Nzrfu have just done a lucrative deal with whoever,4Ns,Ireland tour, extra Bledisloe,Italy,Scotland, and England. All Blacks.
A full Maori tour, plus 4 Black Ferns matches, worse case NZ government would bail them out.
Worry about RFU `s finances with the current Euro crisis, don`t expect the all blacks to disappear in a puff of smoke.
With The RWC they have even more finacial clout behind the brand.

It's really depressing that NZ fans consider their side a 'brand' nowemack2 wrote:With The RWC they have even more finacial clout behind the brand.

Safe as Milk, where have you been the last 108 years NZ have been the All
Blacks for most of that time.THAT is there BRAND not because they are officially the worlds best now.BUT because by the record they ARE the best.10% better than the next nearest side SA they are the Springboks
and THAT is there brand name too.

You might want to reconsider who considers it a brand and who don't. AB fans are probably likely to consider their side a brand as much as any other countries fans. However Adidas or the NZRFU might have a different view of it.

Re: Did the NZRFU make a profit!!!
Frankly it is just a case of terminology, rugby Union in the professional era.
Is a Business, not a sport,it is also referred to as" the product"in TV terms.
hence Super Rugby and improving the product.
The perception that NH and SH play seperate games, with seperately trained officials.
That the same rules don`t apply in the other hemisphere,or that SH teams can`t do set pieces or defend according to NH Fans.As a historical fact the All Blacks were established around 1903 ,one of the players involved was
Jimmy Duncan.[later a NZ Coach]
I don`t like it any more than the writer concerned,BUT for ME ,ALL BLACKS is the name of the NZ National team and most other people.
For me Rugby Union is still a sport whatever terminology is used.

Re: Did the NZRFU make a profit!!!
Gosh, people really don't read much around here do they?
If they did then they would know the story behind the WC because a lot of questions have been asked over the last 6 years (since NZ were awarded the cup in 2005) as to the profits that were expected.
The answer? No profit. A loss, slightly LESS than expected. Why? The union's only source of revenue is through ticket sales for hosting the WC. The cost of sales is through the IRB tournament fee (IRB's guaranteed pot of gold £56m), and all other direct tournament costs. NZ anticipated a loss of $39m (£20m) and acheived slightly more ticket sales than anticipated to meet this loss therefore the loss will be slightly less.
NZ Govt underwrote 2/3 of the loss, so the loss covered by the NZRFU will be circa $13m
Hope this clears up the original question!

Thank you for that information.
Idid read sometime ago that the NZRFU would make a loss, but the reason for this post was when NZ was threatening to with draw from the 2015 RUGBY WORLD. due to the amount of money they have to pay the IRB.

You're confusing 2 different parts of the puzzle Maj. The NZRU was asking for more £s to be distributed to the top nations next RWC to compensate them for lost revenue from matches that they'd have played instead of the RWC in 2015 (AIs etc). It appears that other big unions (those with 2 votes on the IRB) agreed, as the IRB have been pretty quick to up the prize money pot.
Granted "Teflon" Tew was a bit daft to talk about it publicly though.
