Tired of all the old timers?
I am fed up of all the old timers who keep taking up the screentime of the young up and coming stars.
Every week they seem to hog the limelight, when the next generation of stars are overlooked.
If course, I am talking about WWE who have in the last few months given us - Rock, Diesel, Booker, JBL, Austin, HBK.
Now if it was TNA, they would be absolutely slated (and are) for doing this.
But for some reason, the WWE should be applauded for bringing back the stars and putting them in the 3 main events of the biggest show of the year!
Its like terrible parents who blame everyone elses kids and cant see their own childrens short sightedness. WWE is no better than TNA.
In fact, I think TNA is better.
So my question is - why do you let WWE get away with Nostalgia and slate TNA for using old timers?

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
Because TNA uses WWE's "Old Timers". But the fact is, only the Rock has the air time, and as of yet, isnt being used in a main event. Austin is only a guest referee. Booker is now an announcer, HBK is only doing promo for the Taker vs. HHH match because he fought with and against both of them...As for Diesel...I havent heard much from him. Besides that, the younger generations of superstars are slowly being filtered in.
Well, thats my rambling thoughts anyway

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
When was the last time the WWE stuck a title on a 50 year old man to avoid their current champ going to jail with the belt?
Flair 'retired' yet gets more on screen time than some of the TNA guys who helped build the company and Hogan has the entire show built around his return.

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
I agree with KB and Jammy - yes, the Rock is getting a significant ammount of air-time, but the rest are being used in the sidelines. And I'm not sure that the Rock's not going to be used that heavily in the match, anyway. He's just being used to build up the hype for (another) Miz-Cena match.
By the way, I'm guessing that we don't actually get to see Alex Riley being fired.....?

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
WWE have done it though to assist the youngsters during this period of transition between the old guard and the new whilst TNA do it because they cannot see past WCW circa 1998.
Let’s break down the usage of the people in question:
Rock – Appeared live on the show once, appeared once via link. Hosting Mania but not meant to be wrestling himself.
Diesel – lasted 2 minutes 45 seconds in the Rumble, not been seen since
Booker – Lasted 1 minute 8 seconds in the Rumble, since used as a commentator and now on Tough Enough to bring through new talent.
JBL – Brought back for one night only it appears.
Austin – Taking part in the annual ‘novelty’ match at Mania, only there to try and stop the usual kettle break. Being used in Tough Enough to bring through new talent.
HBK – Talked about the Taker/HHH match.
Yet at Mania we have The Miz going in as Champion and Alberto Del Rio the Rumble winner.
In the past two years the following have all been World Champion in the WWE:
Sheamus
Cm Punk
Jack Swagger
Miz
Dolph Ziggler (albeit for a very short reign)
Add to that there has been main title feuds for Wade Barrett & John Morrison, the biggest stable storyline since Evolution being 6 guys for developmental (and Danielson).
Yet in TNA?
They were all ready to push the button yet again on a Main Event Mafia run.
Sting is once again champion.
Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Kazarian etc look further away from the main title scene than they ever have before.
Airtime constantly dedicated to Flair, Jarrett, Hogan, Sting etc.
Answer me this:
Name a guy around the main event scene in TNA that wasn’t a big star over 2 years ago in either WWE or TNA?
Matt Morgan? Anymore else?
Now do the same for WWE.

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
TNA are using the oldies to wrestle. Sting, Flair, Jarrett, and soon enough, Hogan.
WWE are using the oldies but not to wrestle. Rock, Austin, JBL, HBK, Booker T and Diesel (the last 2 with minor cameo's in the Royal Rumble)

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
I’m with you here Hobo and have been saying this for ages. The reason tna should be slated less than WWE is that TNA are actually trying to incorporate their old timers into the company and use them on a equal level to their younger stars, whereas WWE are just using them as a cheap short term pop to sell a PPV, none of them are going to wrestle and will be gone two weeks after Mania, at least the likes of Sting and Steiner JJ and Flair actually pitch in and wrestle and are there for at least the next year. Also the likes of Flair and Sting aren’t afraid of putting one of the younger stars over unlike Rock, Stone Cold, HHH, taker etc

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
Of course Flair doesn't have a problem, as long as he's at the forfront of everything 'big' and he's getting paid he wouldn't care if you took a dump on his chest

Ric Flair will literally die in a wrestling ring.
His last moment on earth will either be him cutting a nonsensical promo whilst blading himself or else wrestling a match which consists of 84 backdrops, 92 thumbs to the eye, 43 Flair flops, 20 counts of him 'begging off', 31 ball shots, 1,697 WOOOOOOO's and a Figure Four.

Now who wouldnt pay to see that?
Re: Tired of all the old timers?
To be honest, I would mark the Chuck out if Ric Flair went back to WWE when he's 80 and does an in-ring segment where he starts macking on Triple H & Stephanie's daughters.

Wait a second. Are you saying that Flair isn't already 80? How old is he actually?

Re: Tired of all the old timers?
Hmm yeah good point. That joke backfired a bit didn't it? The thing I was trying to get across there is that Flair is pretty old!
Think he's about 62.

You forgot the bit where he gets stripped/torn out of his "designer suits"

Where has Flair's insane lisp developed from? He has always had a slight one in recent memory but in last nights TNA he was lisping every dam word!

To be honest I'd say the lisp is probably one of the less worrying things about ric flair during his promos. He always seems one woo away from a heart attack- do you think anyone in the wrestling business considers it seriously worrying and if so could they ever stop him doing it?

No, it would be pure gold.....although people may not realise for a few minutes as they may think he's just elbow dropping the floor again and selling the effects.
