Favourites
Thought I would start a lighthearted thread, and maybe more debate!!!
Who are your favourite players - current and all time?
My current favourite, as some may have gathered by now, is Nemanja Vidic.
My all time favourite is Roy Keane.
I had Roy's name on my shirt for 10 years, until he left I then had Solskjaer for one shirt, then I discovered Vida!

Re: Favourites
My favourite player, as seems the popular choice, would have to be Nemanja Vidic, he really is what a defender should be.
As for all time, I'm only 19 and so have not been graced with seeing the likes of Best and Charlton, among others, but I always liked Ruud Van Nistelrooy, he just wouldn't stop scoring for us

Yay for Nemanja
Diego always seems a nice guy. Ruud was class, I will always be a fan of his.

Re: Favourites
All time top five:
1. Eric Cantona, without question, a genius.
2. Roy Keane, he had tiger blood in his veins!
3. Cristiano Ronaldo, sure he was lured by Real, but to have a player of that quality doesn't come often.
4. Mark Hughes, was my first idol as a fan
5. David Beckham, I was there for the goal v Greece at the World Cup Qualifiers.
Current favourite?
Javier Hernadez. This lad is just quality. Hope Real leave him alone for a few years though!

Re: Favourites
Roy was class , he will always be my football hero. The only shame was that he never got the chance to punch Alan Shearer in the face (damn Becks for holding him back). Seriously its a travesty that he didn't get to play in the Champions League final; what a great player. Proper legend.
Re: Favourites
1. King Eric. Absolute legend and still the best player I've seen on the Old Trafford pitch.
2. Ryan Giggs, used to and still do idolise him and was lucky enough to have met him.
3. Bryan Robson, grew up watching captain marvel. At times he was a one man show.
4. Peter Schmeichel, the best goalkeeper ever - fact.
5. Mark Hughes, I used to spend hours in the garden practising volleys like Sparky.
6. Steve Bruce, often overlucked but captain of the first double winning side. Solid as a rock.

Re: Favourites
Oh my dear lord how did I totally mind blank Giggs & Robson?
Stick Giggs in at 2 and Robbo at 5 instead in my list.

Re: Favourites
Being 18, I missed Cantona's hay day growing up so my favourite players Current and Non-Current have to be Giggs and Van Nistelrooy.
Giggs is just a class act and could go on forever.
Van Nistelrooy was everything you wanted in a striker too, give him the ball in the penalty area and he was just lethal.
Notable mentions go to Valencia, Scholes and Solskjaer!

Re: Favourites
cantona- turned us from a good team to a great team
currently would probably be scholes and giggs, infact there probably 2 and 3 in my all time list as well. not as good as they use to be but still got united in there heart.
lost abit of respect for keano, after the way he left us. bit of a dummy spitter which he's shown since in his mangerial life but as a player he was fantastic. same can be said about ruud. spat his dummy out after being rightly dropped and wanted to leave. we then became a much better team without him.

Not a Man U fan - but of Man U players for me it has to be Giggs. At his peak - which was quite a few years - he was electric

Re: Favourites
Just reading this thread makes you realise just what an almighty choice we have.
All time favourite for me though, was Eric. He just helped turn that corner for us as a Club which opened the floodgates to what we are today. Everything about him was class, and different, and arrogant, and magical. Loved him.
Another big favourite of mine was Roy Keane. Fantastic leader, bit of a lunatic, but that all just added to his charm for me. I remember the day that Cristiano made his debut. Went home, phoned my Dad and said, "we've just found our new superstar". It was a pleasure to watch him develop and become the great player he is. I also felt very nostalgic when David Beckham came back with Milan, for the memories of what a great player he was too. Giggs, Scholes ... as much for being ambassadors for the game as what they do on the pitch.
Current favourite is the popular choice of Vidic. I was convinced for a while that he'd end up leaving for Madrid, but was delighted he signed a new contract and that he's now the captain. The right kind of man for the job.

1. Eric
2. Giggsy
3. Keano
4. Robbo
5. Hughesy
6. Scholesy
7. Georgie Best
8. Sir Bobby
9. Ole
10. Teddy
Seriously I don't understand the love in for Forlan, yes he was a nice guy but he was pretty poor as a United player goes. 20-30 games to score his 1st goal (& even then I think it was a pen) ending up with a ratio of around 1 in 5 which again is shocking.... Everyone talks about his goals at Anfield? Yeah he was a hero that day but really??? Both a half decent keeper would have saved. I'll get slaughtered for this but I think Seba was better than Forlan

Re: Favourites
The two twin's are my favorite. You can guarantee 110% from them every game and they make me laugh how dedicated they are.
Might be a predictable pick for all time but Cristiano Ronaldo will always be the one for me, closely followed by David Beckham.

Re: Favourites
surely sir bobby for greatest of all time, brilliant before munich and then an absoloute legend since. To still be involved and as passionate at the age he is makes him my all time favourite. Current would have to be Valencia. It's like he never got injured.

Re: Favourites
I'll always have a soft spot for the class of '99 but Gary Pallister is probably my all time fave. One of the best central defenders we've ever had.
