Little known international wing Shane Williams retires from international rugby tomorrow and will be missed by a few die hard fans. Shane became a cult figure in the rugby world when he became the smallest player ever to score a try in a game of rugby. Since then he has gone on to score one or two more tries and has become known as the tom thumb of rugby.

His two tries against the literal giants of South Africa in 2008 were among his most memorable and made the world aware of his above average rate of leg movement.

So the question remains who will Wales look to now to get them out of tight spots? Who can we turn to when times are hard? Who will be the light in the darkness? Whatever happened to the heroes?

Please speculate wildly now...

The welsh public will most likely turn to the latest player to have played a decent game or two for the U20s or whoever the youngest fly half is within the Ospreys region, as that is how it has gone so far since regionalism. Or maybe however the Western Mail or Scrum V decide to force upon us. Honestly I think if Scrum V/Western Fail were to say that the Crymych RFC youth tighthead prop was someone to watch for tomorrow then we would probably be calling for their inclusion in the 6Ns squad on there on mass by Monday morning.

I ain't too sure about North, I think he is a real top quality player, but I think we may become acustomed to his abilities etc, and end up under valuing him as a player as we expect so much from him.

Looking at players out there I would go for Martyn Thomas (injury permitting) or Adam Hughes to seem to come from nowhere to steal our hearts if (or IMO when) then pull on the Welsh jersey and fill the gap for a risk taking and pretty running back.

I do think North is pretty special but does he have enough to his game to last like Shane? The thing about young Williams is that he was able to adapt to changes within the game and that is possibly one of the things that made him so successful.

I think Matthew Morgan is pretty special too but not sure whether he is even too small to have the conversation about him being too small for international rugby...

I dont know why we want to throw these youngsters into the deep end, look at the way NZ pick their players, they dont just chuck in 18 year olds without atleast a couple of seasons in the Super15 competition.

We should be doing the same, let these promising players play in their regions for a couple of years then pick them for international rugby.

Yes I agree, we made massive mistakes by throwing North, Warburton, Falatau, Leigh Halfpenny and Lloyd Williams into Internationals despite not much time starting for their regions....

I understand that the Australian RFU will be formally charged by the IRB with "interfering with destiny" as a result of their disrespectful and flagrant decision to actually score more points than Wales in the match at the weekend.

Although not actually beat them.

I admit i hadn't thought about it until he scored with his final touch, he can make a try from nothing and we don't have that option anymore.
Ok North is a powerhouse but he isn't going to create scores like Saint Shane....it's a worry

The the power of the likes of North and Roberts can break the gainline and put Wales on the front foot. So they can be very effective if used properly.
