Plea from the junior Poissons Empty Plea from the junior Poissons

Post by poissonrouge Fri 23 Dec 2011, 6:09 pm

Sorry if this is a bit offtopic, but it was started in the pub thread. We (that si the junior Poissons of which I am an honorary member seeing as I behave like a juvenile!) must ensure that Santa will come in 36 hours time.
MrsP has suggested that seeing as we had to delay the celebration of Christmas last year (due to being in Courchevel and not wanting to confuse the elderly gentleman in the white suit) until after New Year, that celebrating Christmas twice in one year being inappropriate, this years Christmas is cancelled. I propose that an exceptional exclusion should be permitted to the Poissons in view of the fact that the junior ones are hounding me to reverse this decision.

In my defence!

I am not Ebenezer in name or nature I am just concerned that celebrating 2 Christmas 2011s will have an effect similar to that which occurs when folks travel back in time and meet themselves from the past!

Could it cause a rip in the space time continuum!!!

MrsP, is a grinch! bah

Deloreans were made in Belfast so the time travel conundrum is not valid. To compromise you could just put wrapping on paper over boxes and put nothing in the boxes but even MrsP isn't that cruel.....

Just be warned - all you pretend Scrooges out there - don't try voting no for a joke and then rescinding - the poll only accepts your first vote and I have it on good authority that Santa says YES in NI parlance - so don't look to get your stockings filled - (nudge nudge wink wink Cool if you know what I mean) this Christmas Day.
And we are winning at the minute anyway Yahoo

You had no Christmas in 2010.

It is only right that there be two in 2011.

Typical Ulster fan MrsP trying to suck all the fun out of things.

Well Christmas, as a celebration of the birth of Jesus is celebrated on the wrong date anyway so it makes no difference. Also if it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus then surely the more the better...

McKay,

Good point well made but surely it is still possible that it is only acceptable to have one "Birthday" to celebrate each calendar year, no?

Although, as it says in 2 Peter 3 v 8:

"...to the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as one day"

So, perhaps earthly time is not relevant here at all?

Oh and rodders. I am not anti Christmas at all merely wondering if we have already had our allocation for 2011.

Going back to the space time continuim (or is it the time space continium) thing. You already caused potentially irrepairable damage to the universe as we know it by moving Christmas into 2011 in the first place. This must be undone or at least counterbalanced.

For one thing, look at the weather this year. Disasters. Hurricanes, earthquakes and extremes of weather are just the begining. Next year will be worse if not stopped now. For the love of humanity you must repair the damage you created. Bring peace and tranquility back to planet Earth. Have Christmas on the 25th, in 2011, not selfishly for yourselves, but for the rest of us.

How do I know? A man in a blue Police Box told me........

The fish is a universal pictorial symbol of Christianity.

I'm an infamous agnostic but I bet there are hundreds of thousands of people who believe that every day should be celebrated as Christmas Day.

So it doesn't matter who is right or wrong.

It's the family that counts. I love you for this post redfish - and I've always worshiped the your Missus. (p.s. how are the field mice?)

p.p.s. Tigers to truly thrash Ulster on Jan 13th?
