Goldberg eyes Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
Bill Goldberg – the former WCW and World Heavyweight champion – wrote on Twitter responding to a fan that he would do a match against Lesnar at WrestleMania if the opportunity comes. The original tweet was answered by Ross who said that a match between the two would be “miraculous,” although “highly unlikely.” And that’s when Goldberg came in with his response. “……I’d do it,” Goldberg wrote in reply to Ross’ tweet. Goldberg and Lesnar fought each other at WrestleMania XX at Madison Square Garden in New York City and that match ended up being Lesnar’s last match in his WWE career. The match – refereed by Steve Austin – was won by Goldberg but Austin had the last laugh of the night as he ended up delivering the stunner to Goldberg when the two were celebrating.
Would anyone want to see this? if i remember right their last match was awful!!!

Hmm, would certainly be interesting if Goldberg can still go. Can't really remember him competing in anything for a few years now.

Wasn't it just constant one-upmanship and sandbagging?

Goldberg was quality in the WCW but once you got older you realised what a poor wrestler he was.
No thanks.

Re: Goldberg eyes Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
I don't see where there would be any round for it on already crowded rumoured mania card
Re: Goldberg eyes Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
Is t wrong that I was genuinely excited about his until I realised it was goldBERG and not goldDUST that we were talking about
Re: Goldberg eyes Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
I think there is a misconception about why the original match was so bad at Wrestlemania XX.
Everyone knew Goldberg was leaving for sure after Wrestlemania XX, but the rumours were swirling outside MSG as we were all waiting to get in that Brock was leaving.
Now if that news had not hit the arena prior to the match I have no doubt Brock would have been the heavy favourite inside MSG that night (I certainly would have cheered for him). He was already a Smark favoured guy and MSG is one of the smarkiest crowds around, while Goldberg was still a WCW guy and known to be leaving.
Obviously when the the two walked out they were met by absolute hatred. Both were leaving, both were clearly not that into wrestling so much as the money and a third important factor was that Austin was the special guest referee, someone we the crowd actually loved unanimously.
So the two set out and wrestle the start of a 20 minute power match, but we as the crowd just s**t on whole thing becuase of the two men involved. Brock and Goldberg were both clearly thrown off by this and wrongly try to keep to the same pre-match plan. While everything is unfolding, there is a fan running around the arena in full Hogan garb providing better entertainment, so much so that he inspires a full blown Hogan chant. This is of particular significance as Hogan was the only major star to have recently worked for the WWE not to be on the card and due to the fact that it was the 20th anniversary show at MSG, I think a lot of people actually expected him to throw in a surprise appearance and there were rumours circulating in the crowd that he would.
Anyway, as the match dragged on, it becomes increasingly obvious that Austin is going to be sending these two out of the WWE with Stunners, and thus as a crowd we dumped all over it until Austin did exactly that.

I'd want to see this match if the two guys were going to stick around, but as they'd both probably be coming in for a one-off payday it would be WrestleMania 20 all over again.
It's a pity that match was ruined by the fact they were both leaving, as it had the potential to be better than Goldberg v Scott Steiner from Fall Brawl 2000, which is probably Da Man's best ever match.

I for one would love to see the match again. I wasnt impressed with there match at W Mania 20 but the build up to it was pretty cool. Im sure it will be better if they go again.
By the way where is Wrestle Mania 29 being held does anyone know ?

Re: Goldberg eyes Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
There match at Wrestlemania 20 was just an excuse for the WWE to get a crippled Stone Cold on the Wrestlemania card. Which was abit of a joke realy as Brock and Goldberg were 2 great champions in there own right, and didnt need Stone Cold to promote there match. It ruined the match realy as Stone Cold took away alot of the attention, from what should have been a dream match. But just like Cena nowadays, Stone Cold was pushed at the expense of everyone else, just to sell T Shirts.
I think they could have a great match if it had been a normal match, and they still could have a great match, providing Goldberg can still pick guys like Lesnar up like he used to. It wouldn't realy work this year though, as it's to short notice realy. Maybe for next year, as a match like this would need time to build up a good story line. Afterall these guys haven't been in the ring for a while it would seem silly if they both just returned for one match, and then left again.
