Your Bucket List...
As anyone that watched the recent Idiot Abroad 2 series will have seen, Karl Pilkington went to various places around the globe as part of his (well, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's) bucket list - places to visit before you die.
What is on your own bucket list?
A few of mine are:
China
Mongolia
Grand Canyon
South Africa
India (Taj Mahal)
Over to you.

Japan, both the bright lights of Tokyo and to see the heritage of the country.
Would love to do a road trip of the States from Boston, down to New Orleans then across to California.

Re: Your Bucket List...
Hawaii would be on mine too, westisbest. Something I've never seen is really monstrous waves and I think it would be absolutely amazing to go to Hawaii at the right time for those.
Also...
Nepal. I like mountains.
America's corn belt. A bit random maybe, but yellow corn fields as far as the eye can see and the farmhouses with their little windmills somehow appeals. I blame The Wizard of Oz and Smallville from my youth.
Easter Island. The statues. I'll say no more.
South America. I've spent a long time in Asia and I love it here. But there is no culture shock anymore. Having never been to South America, I think I could recapture the awe there. I like the sound of Argentina.
Africa. No bigger culture shock could be had for me now, I think. Africa would be even better than South America. It never appealed before, but now it does.
Buying a classic Mini and touring the British Isles. So many places I haven't been to that are on my doorstep, relatively speaking. Cornwall to North Scotland, Wales and Ireland too. Guesthouses, country pubs, British landscapes and no motorways. This would perhaps be the most expensive one on my list but the idea of it really stirs me.
Great idea for a thread Fists. And I guess my post illustrates more why I want to move to Shanghai and earn a bit more cash, to you and me both.

Re: Your Bucket List...
Nepal is another on mine, Il Gia, I'd particularly like to do the Everest base camp trek. A few friends of mine have been there, and their photos look spectacular.
Great shout with a tour of the British Isles - I absolutely love country pubs, something rather special about them over here! Our landscapes are under-rated, too, not many finer sights than Britain's greenery. I guess everything is just on such a lesser scale over here, hence why less heed is paid!

South Africa - in particular I would love to watch England play a test at Newlands (although Table Mountain etc would be great to see as well)
Argentina - Buenos Aires in particular.
Peru - Machu Picchu
I would also like to visit Australia and New Zealand as well as I've never been to that part of the world.

B9, ditto, Newlands is a wonderful ground, absolutely stunning and when you add a Test in to the mix as well as the hotties you get watching the Saffers play - does life get any better?
Re: Your Bucket List...
As far as I'm concerned the answer is no, life couldn't get any better. I would like nothing more than to be able to retire and travel around the world watching England as they tour in places such as South Africa, Aus, the West Indies, Sri Lanka. What a way to see some amazing places.Fists of Fury wrote:B9, ditto, Newlands is a wonderful ground, absolutely stunning and when you add a Test in to the mix as well as the hotties you get watching the Saffers play - does life get any better?
I always enjoyed watching the test cricket from South Africa as the television directors there are more than happy to pan around the ground and pick out the beautiful ladies watching the cricket. Always thought Sky could learn a thing or two from them

I hear Canada is pretty impressive, too, in terms of natural beauty. Has anyone ever been there?
A trip to Niagara would be something to behold, too.

Re: Your Bucket List...
The part of Canada where live certainly is beautiful in places. We have the Rocky Mountains (Banff & Jasper National Parts) a short drive to the West and the BC interior over the other side of the mountains themselves (the Kootaney and Okanagan regions). One of my hobbies is dirt biking - nothing better for me than riding (or ski-doing in winter) in the foothills and mountains.
Being so large it is just about impossible to see all of Canada, even if you live here. To see Niagra I would have to take a 3 hour flight from Calgary or Edmonton to Toronto before another 1.5 hours drive to Falls themselves. Although it's on my Canadian bucket list there are other places I would like to see here first. This years plan is driving over the mountains and on to Vancouver & Vancouver Island. The drive itself takes about 14 hours and is supposed to be through some of the most amazing scenery. Depends on how my vacation time pans out - it usually ends up being used on escorting visitors around from the UK as opposed to seeing new places.
Also going to drive up to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories in October to see the Northern Lights. Another 14 hour drive although not supposed to be such an interesting one, just mainly bush. We can occasionally see the Aurora's from where we live although they are generally not very strong where as in Yellowknife they are supposed to be out of this world.

Completely agree, KK, space is something I'm enormously interested in, and if I had the money I'd love to go. I know there's not much there, but the view of the earth from outside our atmosphere would be incredible, and the vastness of the place would be a marvel in itself.

No, I mean the real thing... feeling the space around you on the moon and looking back at the big blue marble in real time.

Habs game at the old Montreal Forum (sorry)
Boating/swimming on the lakes of the Adirondacks, even Lake Champlain. Beautiful. Peaceful.

Re: Your Bucket List...
Having spent the past fortnight with my fingers crossed that Arturo Vidal will join Man Utd I decided to read up on his country of birth Chile. That has to be an awesome country to roadtrip. 100 miles wide yet 2700 miles long going from its Southern most tip with glaciers and in the vicinity of Antarctica through ice capped volcanos, the driest desert in the world, lake districts and forests. Not only that but there's Easter Island to visit which is owned by Chile.

Easter Island always seema like a lot of effort for little return, personally.
Though speaking of bucket lists, and that area of the world, top of mine has always been diving the Galapogos Islands. Closely followed by the sardine run off South Africa. ...

Chile would be awesome!
It also has the biggest swimming pool in the world.

Would love to go to NY. Have a morning jog around Central Park and a few beers in Brooklyn.
Always wanted to do the Route 66 tour, looking at the map I would probably make some adjustments though.
The Rocky Mountains and surrounding area looks incredible, would love to take the kids there.
