If Roberts is out - Who should partner JD2 in the centre?
Who partners JD2 in the centre?
Looks like Jamie Roberts may miss the Ireland match. I think it's safe to say that JD2 will be one of the centres starting for Wales against Ireland, but who will get the other spot if Roberts doesn't recover on time?
Gavin Henson - One of the best 12s in world rugby on his day and an important part of two Welsh championships. Will two games at 12 for the Blues be enough for him to play there for Wales if Roberts is injured?
Scott Williams - Has come through the Scarlets ranks quickly and had a good world cup, but hasn't been tested properly against quality opposition.
Ashley Beck - Best 12 in the RaboPro12 at the moment. Would chucking him in the deep end get the most out of his current form or be a disaster waiting to happen out in Dublin?

Re: Who partners JD2 in the centre?
Its a difficult descision.
Henson has experience, but not recently
Beck has no experience, but is on form and could be very good.
Williams has some experience, but hasn't shown much recently with JD2 for the Scarlets
I don't know which I would pick, let alone what Gatland will do.
However, you are missing a name on that list - JAMES HOOK???

Good point have no idea how I forgot him. I guess I erased him from my memory after the world cup!

JD2's a 12, how about a 13 option? Bishop, Maule, Hughes?

Well, Williams is the 13 option for the Scarlets.

Wow Swansea City beating Arsenal 2-1.
If the Ospreys had the same crowd at the liberty they would win the Heineken cup every year!

If Henson is one of the best 12s 'on his day' and Wales 'can beat anyone on their day' i wonder what day that is?

If we MUST play Hook - I personally don't want to, then he MUST play 13....we need someone who will at least attack the gainline at IC if JR not fit

Jamie Roberts may not be fit next weekend but I have no doubt that he will be playing for Wales three weeks from today.

Re: Who partners JD2 in the centre?
i cant believe people are actually voting for Henson!!
Beck is the in-form centre in Wales at the moment, Beck, Scott Williams, JD and Hook should all be a country mile ahead of Henson in the pecking order and its debateable whether Bishop, Hughes and Ashley Smith are ahead of him to
Gav has only just started playing properly for the first time in 3 years! are we picking him on the basis that he was in decent form 3 or 4 years ago? i will be dissapointed if other players who have been giving it their all week in week out for a number of seasons and are also in better form than gav get overlooked
if JR is unavailable i would go with a centre pairing of either Beck and Davies or Davies and Williams
let Henson get back to playing week in week out and go from there, dont select a player because he was good 3 or 4 years ago!

Am interested to se George North in the center...! I wonder if the Scarlets will give him the chance?

Re: Who partners JD2 in the centre?
Dog, I disagree.
He didnt do well in my opinion. A center has to make space for players, straighten lines, Brew didnt he narrowed space outside.
He is a good winger, not a center though.

i thought he played well. watched with some friends and we all thought so. maybe we had had too much liquorice.
he did make a good break and get an off-load to the wing. or was that the liquorice again?

Re: Who partners JD2 in the centre?
He did, but that run narrowed the space as he was very lateral when he tried to beat the man rather than straighten and pass as a good center should.

Why fix what isn't broken? North may have played his age grade rugby at 13 but the boys i know who played with him have said he's playing much better now on the wing.
