General Game Plan
On attack, we will look to control possession with our strong carrying game. We will look to our big carriers to get over the gain line and where possible offload to support runners breaking the defensive line and keeping our forward momentum going. If running the ball is not on we will look to the boot of Sexton to put us in the right areas.
On defence, we will use a blitz defence coming up at pace looking to isolate the ball carrier before he gets to the gain line stopping any momentum and allowing us to hit the breakdown hard. Danny Care will act as a sweeper to cover any grubbers behind the line while our back three will sit deep ready to run back any loose kicks.
At the breakdown, if the ball looks available we will look to seriously commit numbers to clear the ruck allowing Thomson and POM to come in and secure us turnover ball. At all other times we will commit 1 or 2 to the breakdown and look to counter ruck legally slowing down Edinburgh ball allowing our defensive line more time to set.
We will look to use the set piece as a weapon throughout. We will target the scrum with a technically strong front row looking to get under and disrupt. With 5 jumping options and a reliable thrower at hook we will look to attack from the lineout. We will look to mix things up bringing the ball down into the maul or playing the ball of the top and spreading it through the backs.

Tactics
GENERAL:
- Game is built around our powerful setpiece, intelligent midfield and flying back three. We will use the scrum and lineout as weapons.
- Attack the lineout as much as we can using the tactical kicking of Wilkinson and Twelvetrees. A.Brown to lead, supported by Horwill and Hines.
- Call for scrums when we can if we are getting the advantage we expect to. Waldrom to look for pick and drive from the base.
- Look to Waldrom, Horwill, Hines, Pocock, Franks and Johnston to give us real go-forward with their carrying.
- Use Waldrom off the shoulder of the half back's crashing down the 10/12 channel.
- Pocock is the man charged with reaching the breakdown first, securing first phase possession for us and pilfering the possession of Glasgow. We will always look to attack quickly off turnover ball.
- Wilkinson and Twelvetrees are given license to play the game as they sees it. We do ask that they use our lineout ability to put pressure on Glasgow, so a kicking game will be employed, but if they sees an opportunity to attack out wide - that is their call.
- Our back three are encouraged to do what they do best - counter attacking and running the ball back. All have good boots to rely on if it isn't on or they are isolated, but the counter is what we ask them to look for.
- Early on Wilkinson to kick all penalites within range, but we won't necessarily go for the 3 points as the game progresses. Horwill to make the call dependant on the success of the lineout.

Tactics
Our generic gameplan revolves around a high intensity attacking and defensive game.
In attack our primary gameplan is always to control possession and run the ball, utilising big carriers attacking gaps in the line, and looking to offload to support runners to continue getting over the gainline and keep the ball alive. If the offload is not on, we will take the contact and look to recycle quickly at the breakdown. If running the ball is not on we will uitilise the kicking game of one of our backs to take us into the right area of the pitch.
In defence we will look to blitz, with our scrum half sweeping behind the defensive line. Key for us is line speed, getting up to make the tackle before the ball carrier hits the gainline, and confidence and trust in the man next to you in the defensive line, meaning we will not jump out or get pulled to far away from the next defender leaving gaps that can be exploited.
At the breakdown, we will not overcommit players. If the ball is not there to be won, then we will commit 1 or 2 players to legally slow it down whilst maintaining a strong defensive line across the pitch. If the ball looks like it is there to be won, we will look to get more numbers there quickly, with the first 1 or 2 players immediately rucking past the ball to clear the opposition players who are trying to get hands on it, and the next man in will then look to get it out quickly for us to counter attack on turnover ball.
We will look to really attack the scrum, both in attack and defence. We will not be looking to drop the scrum at all, and Thierry Dusautoir in his role as captain will be talking to the referee constantly to ensure that he is aware that we want to scrummage. We will look to be aggressive in this area throughout.

We are going to play exactly like last week. Target the set piece and keep ball in hand, use the carriers, suck in the defenders before getting our backs in play. SBW is a key man, as a go to man and a decoy runner. Pienaar to pull the strings like he did v tigers in real life. use the fringes well and get the backs involved. kick all goals as well.
boys are fired up, a win see's us top the group.

16. Imolek 17. Paice 18. Tialata 19. Jones 20. Kvesic 21. Spencer 22. Cruden 23. Earls

Tactics

Re: Heineken Cup Round Six
Gloucester 25 - 18 Munster
Very even game until the Gloucester bench swings it in the final 25mins - teams just couldnt cope with Genia and Carter coming on.
Edinburgh 9 - 15 Sale
Edinburgh try and spoil games and stop opponents playing and this is a lot easier at home. Sale still have too much for them and will win this game without being overly threatened.
Tigers 26 -15 Glasgow
Too much at home, Tigers shaping up very nicely into one of the form teams in the league.
Newcastle 47 - 8 Aironi
Quite a few changes inthe Newcastle team to stop the match turning into a complete cricket score, but will still be a try-fest with quality on show.
Trevisio 12 - 26 Saracens
A lot of Pete's team are hitting form at just teh right team and has clever, ball playing players in key positions that will see them get a few tries in Italy.
Connacht 3 - 20 Quins
Similar to SJE's game, but Connacht arent as good as Edinburgh and Quins will win by quite a few scores.
Irish 19 - 17 Toulouse
Never good to get Toulouse in your pool, but Irish have enough to beat the French superstars at home and a very powerful midfield to stiffle French attacking flair.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Six
Gloucester 30-22 Munster
See a good game here with Gloucester just having a bit more quality in the pack to free their backline up. The engine room battle would be great and I see Munster fronting up well in the backrow but Gloucester too strong elsewhere and a strong bench to see the game through.
Edinburgh 17-20 Sale Sharks
Edinburgh have been looking tasty at home but Sale look very strong in the pack and this will set a tone. An impressive backline will see them through for a good win.
Leicester Tigers 32-20 Glasgow
A comftable win here for Tigers were they will dominate possesion and control affairs from the off. I really like Tigers backline and they'll run in 4 tries with ease.
Treviso 12-18 Saracens
Tough place to travel to but Sarries have went in very strong. I see the first half being a tight affair but Sarries cutting loose in the second.
Connacht 17-12 Harlequins
I think Steve has underestimated Connacht a little and went in a bit understrength, especially in the front 5. Connacht a tough unit to break down at home and I can't see Quins doing this. Tight affair but Connacht sneak it.
London Irish 29-27 Tolouse
Belting game with Irish really going for it. The packs would batter each other to death with a titanic scrum battle. Think Irish have just enough in the backs to scrape the win.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Six
Gloucester 26 - 20 Munster
Good win. Enough for Munster to get the LBP but not enough to worry Gloucester at any stage.
Edinburgh 11 - 19 Sale
Not an easy game here and SJE has gone with a strong side as he had to. A good away win ground out.
Leicester 29 - 15 Glasgow
I like Glasgow but they don't have the fire power to get the ball they need to play at their best. Leicester are their usual big, nasty pack and a nice balanced back line. Gets them through.
Newcastle 35 - 13 Aironi
Aironi have enough to stop this being a massacre but not enough to be competitive for any longer than the first 20 mins.
Treviso 13 - 19 Saracens
A tough game but result never in doubt. Treviso won't be walked over but not got enough for the win.
London Irish 21 - 18 Toulouse
Best game of the round. Toulouse haven't convinced me this season and I don't think they'd beat this Irish side.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Six
Gloucester 28-15 Munster
Where are Munster better than Gloucester? Nowhere!
Edinburgh 15-19 Sale
Sale will out carry Edinburgh to the win.|
Tigers 26-12 Glasgow
Tigers have put out a strong team and I really feel it will limit Glasgow.
Falcons 32-12 Aironi
Once again too much for Falcons
Treviso 20-31 Saracens
See above for details.
Connacht 17-19 Quins
Just enough for Quins to edge it
Irish 32-27 Toulouse
Can we do this for real, class everywhere. Just about edging to Irish at home.

Treviso 20-31 Saracens
See above for details.
Connacht 17-19 Quins
Just enough for Quins to edge it
Irish 32-27 Toulouse
Can we do this for real, class everywhere. Just about edging to Irish at home.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Six
Gloucester 22-15 Munster
Glaws set the tone with a fantastic front 5 and pick up a good win over a decent Munster outfit
Tigers 27-12 Glasgow
Tigers stronger throughout with a big gnarly pack on show and should smother Glasgow out of this one
Falcons 41-9 Aironi
Not much explanation needed here after recent results in the Heino!
Treviso 16-22 Saracens
Tough place to go now a days but cracking back row and half back selections for Sarries see them ease themselves through this one.
Connacht 9-13 Quins
Same as last night this will be a seriously tough game for Quins. The have enough quality to pip a win but cant see a high scoring affair.
Irish 20-16 Toulouse
Irish have gone in strong here as they needed to and should see some good front foot ball and pick up an important win.
