The irons look very nice, just a shame they were covered in orange writing. I wonder if they will ever hit the retail market?
I do like the idea of having the loft printed on irons instead of the more common place numbers.

Like the look of the irons although I'd go for a different colour paint fill.

What difference does having the loft printed on the irons make?
Do most people care about iron lofts?

It's about time Fowler grew up and ditched this whole Orange/Silly clothes thing. He's not 14 for heavens sake, and the whole "college colours" thing is tiresome. Do any of us wear our Uni Colours to work, or an old school tie.
Nice irons though, just a shame Fowler is such a man sausage.

Re: Ricky Fowlers new cobra gear...
George,
I guess just because it is a bit different, but also because an iron number is a little meaningless given each make is different. It would obviously make no difference as we all start to learn how far each iron goes but I do just like the idea, even if just aesthetically.
Super
If you had gone to a decent uni then you would wear your tie with pride as often as possible.
Did you also notice Rocky seemed to be sporting a weird sort of moustache thing as well as the orange?

Mac, I went to a couple of perfectly decent Uni, and certainly got a better education than the 10p degree that Fowler would have got in "General Studies"

It's fine to wear university ties or logos or something, but this bright orange colour scheme really doesn't fit into that. He looks like someone who works for a fast food franchise.

Or a Guantanamo Bay escapee, or a bin man, or a white man pretending to be a black rapper.
Which ever way you look at it he looks like a complete man sausage, and I've not even started on his Bieber haircut and Dennis Healey eyebrows. IF I could say the "C" word I would.

I'm with S_R on this - I hate the look. But I was actually warming to him as a golfer towards the tail end of last season - in particular his play and interviews during the Open. I'm not sure he's the great
I've just got a new Cobra driver which I'm enjoying a lot. Never hit a Cobra iron in my puff.

What happens with Ricky's irons after he takes them to the Cobra Van & they make some of the clubs stronger.
Will they have to put new numbers on them as the loft has now changed ???

The irons look pretty smart, I like the orange writing too. Original without being gimmicky.
As for Ricky Fowler's dress sense, he likes orange, so what? I wouldn't personally dress like him but then I'm not a teenager. He's from a different generation to most of the posters on this forum so his taste and style is different.
Super, why don't you post a picture of yourself on here and then we can start a thread taking the urine out of your silly clothes and haircut.

Re: Ricky Fowlers new cobra gear...
I'm kinda split about Rickeeeeee. I think he looks a total tw@t in the orange or any other of his colours of the day but on the other hand my wife likes to look out for him meaning I get to watch the golf.
Likewise I don't like the fact he gets more attention than his golf deserves just because of his image/looks but were someone to pay me extra to do my postie round dressed like him I can guarantee I'd be up for it.
And the final contradiction was when he wore his snowman outfit with the colour blindness images on it for the Open I was desperate for him to fall in the mud but was very impressed with the way he played that day.

Re: Ricky Fowlers new cobra gear...
Fowler has game, that's for sure, but anything less than a victory or two in a big tournament will certainly be a disappointment I imagine.
His "handsy"move at the top and his course management need work IMO. Perhaps he'll not be able to change his quick transition, but he sure could do better on course management.
He's a huge draw on the US tour. I'm certain he commanded a big number for his move to Cobra.

just had a wee look on cobra's website, and they're listing the loft of the pitching wedge as 44deg for their cavity back amg irons...that sounds more like a 9iron to me??!! perhaps just listing the lofts is better for everyone.

ha ha ... to be fair the guantanamo bay thing is quite witty.
At the same time, his outfits really aren't that outrageous. Nothing compared to John Daly for example or Payne Stewart. I'm not going to get all gok wan but I think his shirts and trousers are usually pretty smart, it's matching the same colours to create the all orange / pink / purple outfit that makes him stand out. It's not like he's wearing his trousers down round his knees, which I think is just ridiculous.
If you went to an average golf club, and looked the old duffers in their nick faldo pringle jumpers from the 1990's, and their crusty blazer and soup stained ties, I think it would be fair to say that they are the ones who are fair targets for ridicule.

I find Daly and Poulter's outfits far more disturbing. Poulter "pink" is particularly awful.

I find it strange watching his swing, it is so flat and wristy. I'm no swing expert, but I can't imagine he'll be able to swing like this when he's older - surely this will damage his hips and knees?

Actually on second thoughts I agree with Ray and Shot his outfits maybe aren't so shocking. Langer used to dress like a pimp on occasion and he's always been my favourite. Donald wears some odd colour combinations too.

Its just golf gear.......seriously, none of it is cool to anyone apart from golfers.
Even the better dressed pros ruin it all with a visor, and anyone wearing a visor by default looks like a tool.

For once we agree, golf gear really isn't remotely cool, but there is looking normal and looking like an imbecile.

Its the white belts I cant be doing with Hibbz. Though clearly I think I look the bees knees in my shiny (well would be if I cleaned them which I never will) white footjoys.

Re: Ricky Fowlers new cobra gear...
I also have a pair of "off white" footjoys which even ignoring the spikes I wouldn't be seen dead in anywhere other than the golf course or squash court.
I have a problem with middle aged men in white trousers. And by middle aged I mean over thirty. It looks poncey enough on the younger man but I have no idea what older guys think they look like.

Any group of people who once thought looking like Rupert Bear (see Nicklaus et al. of 70s/early 80s fame) was the bees' knees is going to have some problems with the idea of 'cool':

NBS, wouldnt mind if that was in the past, they all dress like that for the Scottish Open now. I know its only Scotland and therefore fashion is a bit of a non starter to begin with but even so.........

diggers,
I'm sitting here at work in black shoes and a black belt, if I was wearing brown shoes I would wear a brown belt.
Surely if you are wearing white shoes you should therefore wear a white belt?

I think white trousers are ok for the pro's, especially when they are playing in hot locations. But not ok on the average bloke at the local muni on a sunday morning

There is no way I would wear a black belt with brown shoes that is a major sartorial error!

Re: Ricky Fowlers new cobra gear...
Ray, most of the shoes I wear are trainers. The last thing Im thinking is to match the colour of my converse to a belt...that would make me look....well like a golfer to be honest.
Maybe you should go a bit crazy and stop matching the leather accessories, live on teh edge mate.

Converse are making golf shoes now:
http://www.converse-outlet-store.com/2012-converse-chuck-taylor-golf-shoe-p-10307.html
I must own about 10 belts (mostly black and brown)... matching accessories (on or off the golf course) is very important! Digs you might as well go the whole hog and tie a piece of string around your waist.

absolutely. and proud! You should try it some time, I find it really improves my golf game.
If I am wearing white golf shoes, a white cap and a white glove, then naturally I would wear a white belt.

I remember when top gear dressed up in golf gear, I realised how silly golf clothes are once I saw three guys who notoriously lack style looking even more ridiculous than normal.
Golf clothes are not nice, its a case of damage limitation.
