Thank you Roger And Rafa
It was a great semi final. What a shame someone had to lose and there was no trophy for the winner. I know many are disapointed that their favourite didn't win (I hope you didn't really cry Tenez...) and one or two may be gloating that their favourite did win... but it was a great match to watch. There is an extra tension when these two players meet. Also both players know each others games so well and both players play at such a high standard its possable to see the sort of tactical play that isn't often present in other matches.
So Thank you Roger and Rafa! I can't wait until next time. Hopefully at the FO or Wimbledon and in the final not the semi.

Are you serious?
'Great'?
Far from it.
Rafa didn't need to click into 3rd gear and Federer fell apart in the key moments.
The first set for 5 games was great, then it just went beyond scrappy.

Maybe the wumming extends beyond just Murray? There were a few other people who felt the same, perhaps neutral Nadal fans who really believed he could lose. So maybe not, too hard to tell.

I only saw the first 2 games, ending with Roger hitting a backhand through the sound barrier to break Rafa's serve. I'll pretend the rest of the match went like that, ending 6-0 6-0 6-0 to Federer.

I have no idea what this means. Did you enjoy the match or not?

I was at work and thank God, it was busy. Tried to look at the score on yahoo website using mobile. When finally got the score, it seemed too late for any resurrection. Anyway. Heartbreaks are the norm. Reminds me of my football loving friends' anguish when their team, usually used to winning, loses sometimes. I really liked your comment Chazfazzer. I live in hope. Let's see what FO brings. Wife asked me to now forget about Roger and tennis too. Wish it was possible.

So many are too emotionally involved to appreciate good tennis...

Re: Thank you Roger And Rafa
And someone appreciate good tennis all the more, BECAUSE they are emotionally involved.
These two men bring something special to the court when they face each other.
Federer's forehand errors don't take away from some of the scintillating shots he did make off that side; his backhand at times was sublime. Nadal missed some easy shots, but also made some heraclean saves - it was a good match by most pundits, commentators comments. Certainly with the ebbs and flows, it was an emotional match - times where you felt Federer might turn it on, run away with a few games, a set, just didn't make it happen for the "W" at the end - Nadal DID make it happen.
Was a fitting match for the two, yet again. As someone else said, hope it's not the last - one never knows!!??

Genuine appreciation for these two glorious players, despite their respective detractors.

I take it you'll watch the next semi with the same open mindedness and emotional detachment you've suggested is needed to appreciate good tennis? As for that match Rafa did his bit, Fed just played some good shots here and there but nothing substantial enough to make it any kind of contest worth this kind of reverence IMO.

Yes of course I will. If Djokovic wins there will be no moaning, complaining and whining from me. A player doesn't get to be world No.1 in the world without being a truly great tennis player and that deserves credit and acknowledgement. The same applies to Nadal who won yesterday.

Lol I was talking to HE I'd expect you to be watching the second semi. I've given Rafa credit for getting the job done on many a post, infact even within my previous post. I suppose if Murray some how doesn't show up then you won't be disappointed either?

I'll be disappointed but still have the grace to salute the winner unlike we saw by so many yesterday.

Fair enough, even though I'm not with them on this one I can see where they are coming from. Perhaps they wanted to see Fed win a match he should have lost after everything that's happened. If he'd played 09 level and the same thing had happened I'd be with them but tbh he didn't play well enough for physicality or conditions to be a real factor and Nadal not even at his best was too good for him.

I'll start appreciating Federer when he stops netting simple below shoulder height volleys into the net, wounds me up.

As opposed to netting them into the court... What are you on about S_A his volleying yesterday was average to good. He even relied on it to hold serve at an important stage of the first set.

Re: Thank you Roger And Rafa
I thought Fed played Ok and it was a good match. I just felt Fed should have used more dropshots and short balls like he did against Delboy and Tomic.
This would take Rafa out of his comfort zone forcing him to come up with approach shots and volleys. Which has got to be better, in the long run, than trying to out run him in 15 - 20 shot rallies.
