No the game would not be in disrepute unless the match actually had Test status - in any case without the intervention of weather I doubt many Intercontinental Cup pitches/batting line-ups are strong enough to go for 5 days without a result. There would be nothing wrong with Ireland playing 5 day FC matches against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe either but those teams are reluctant as they feel that not winning would undermine their Test status.
I do think that Test cricket is a realistic aim for Ireland, however. The starting point has to be a FC structure. This could probably be composed of representative sides of Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connacht along Rugby lines playing each other home or away and would afford a much greater range of Irish players to play against top opposition than in club cricket where good players are playing but are limited to only a few per team.

So football matches between China and India should be given a lesser status? What a load of patronising, stigmatising, and backward BS.

It is a PoV. It is the type of PoV which has led cricket to where it is currently, where test matches make losses everywhere bar England, and occasionally Australia (if against England, South Africa, or India), where a "world cup" is scheduled to consist of 10 teams (of which 8 will be selected from the "chosen few"), where in response to people kicking up a fuss over a "world cup" being turned into an invitational tournament, the powers that be punished those kicking up a fuss by reducing their allowed participation in a (different format) "world cup" to 2 from 6, despite having said only a few months previously that the said different format was the best way to help developping countries.
It is a PoV certainly. And if you wish cricket to remain the privilege of the elite few, chosen not on merit but on geopolitical significance, then it is the type of PoV you should hold.
In the meantime, I stand by my assessment.
