Jon Jones handed Mauricio "Shogun" Rua a savage beating in the UFC 128 headliner, as he captured the light heavyweight championship in a third-round technical knockout on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Beaten almost beyond recognition, Rua finally wilted 2 minutes, 37 seconds into Round 3
Surging lightweight contender Jim Miller stopped previously unbeaten WEC import Kamal Shalorus on third-round strikes in a 155-pound showcase. The world-ranked Miller, moving into position to challenge for the UFC lightweight crown, has pieced together an impressive seven-fight winning streak.
One-time UFC middleweight title contender Nate Marquardt took care of business against a game but overmatched Dan Miller, as he outpointed the former International Fight League champion en route to a clear-cut unanimous decision. All three judges scored it 30-27 for Marquardt, who won for the 10th time in 14 Octagon appearances.
Urijah Faber outworked, outmaneuvered and ultimately outclassed Eddie Wineland in a competitive battle between former WEC champions. Faber earned a unanimous verdict from the cageside judges in the co-main event. The scores were 29-28 across the board for Faber, who made a successful, if not memorable, UFC debut.
"The Ultimate Fighter" Season 10 finalist Brendan Schaub stuck another important feather in his cap, as he knocked out Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic with a clubbing right hand 3 minutes, 44 seconds into the third round of their featured heavyweight scrap.
looking at the footage on the link, Jon Jones really gave Rua a beating!

Re: UFC 128 Results
Jon Jones looked absolutely amazing last night, Joe Rogan said he couldn't think of a harder champion for Jon Jones to challenge but i disagree. Shogun isn't half the fighter he was in Pride and at only 29, looks likes his best days are behind him, stamina seems to be a real issue for him but don't think it would have mattered last night, Jones looked unbeatable.
It seems Jones will now have to defend against his team mate Rashad Evans, but both seemed more than willing, having earlier said they would not face each other. I can't see Evans being able to trouble Jones, and would struggle to deal with him standing, i feel his only chance is to use his wrestling and get Jones on his back, but is still a very tall order.
Was gutted to realise Cro Cop had lost, i missed the fight and on checking the results had originally thought he had beat Schaub, one of my favourite MMA fighters and a true legend in the sport.

Sadly missed the fight, I'm actually a bit gutted about about Shogun, always been a fan. But by the sound of it he got totally outclassed so now scouring the web for footage.
Galveston, could not agree more, still veiw Cro Cop as some sort of minor god myself so always shocked when he gets beaten

Re: UFC 128 Results
Jones looks unbeatable at LHW.
I would like to see his actual fight weight, I see him coming in at around 215 - 220. Whereas Rua was a podgy 205.
Jones just looked a beast compared to Rua and I dont give Evans a chance against him.
I think Jones v Rampage would be an interesting fight.

When is Rampage fighting next?
He is one of my faves - even though he came over as a muppet on TUF, I still kind of liked his shenanigans!

Rampage's next fight is against Hammil @ UFC 130
I hope he trains properly for this and not overlook Hammil , who is underated IMO

Re: UFC 128 Results
I'm a big fan of Rampage but he's become too one dimensional. He's got a tough opponent in Matt Hammill coming up, but as Soldier touched upon if he trains right he should get past him.
I'm assuming that a Rampage victory here would lead to a LHW title shot versus the winner of the Jones/Evans fight, but you know what happens when you assume
I'd love to Rampage rediscover some of the old magic and start hitting some crazy slams - I want powerbombs dammit!!

Re: UFC 128 Results
i fancy hamill to out wrestle rampage, not been impressed at all with rampage in his last few fights. dont think he's training well enough and unless hamill stands in front of rampage dont think he will be able to ko him. one problem training out of britain is you wont have the high level of wrestlers to spar with in training.
on jones, i was predicting a jones victory. everytime i have seen him fight he's looked fantastic. styles makes fights though and shogun was made for jones as he was always going to try and stand with him. evans will be a tougher match up for him and will be intresting to see if he can get jones on his back. something i havnt seen yet and often wrestlers weakness.
