Your side must contain 3 domestic players and 3 x U21

Can be the same players i.e. Lyon could have 3 U21 Frenchies and that would fulfil both conditions

I don't get it. I just posted and deleted it, when I re-read your post a bit more Afro but I am still confused.

Are you saying that even if you're U21/home grown player is listed as injured today, you can still include them for the midweek domestic game?

I know Whistle

Twist - we have given this plenty of thought. We wanted to make it that managers had to give some thought to whether to select players or rest them for the cup, so we have brought in the injuries rule, the same as for Europe.

However, we also realised that this had an impact on the U21 and Domestic rule, and we didn't want to make it that you had to hold 6 of each type.

Therefore, we are saying that, for example the U21s, you must have 3 U21 players in either the starting XI or your official injuries. The same applies to Domestics.

Therefore, there is no requirement to own more U21s/Domestics

U21 Homegrown - if injured they cannot play, but can still count towards the condition. Not perfect, but the best solution in order that you do not need to go shopping

Right so for instance:

Homegrown: Guiata, Catala, Gabi
U21: Rodwell, Kovacic, Oliviera

So if Rodwell and Catala get injured, that is still part of my "3", so I only need to use 2 U21/Homegrown in my line-up.

I see a problem with this - you are going to be praying that your U21's are injured. That means you can play what is more or less your first 11, rather than one that is catered to use U21's for instance.

For example, say Kovacic and Oliveira are injured for me this week. I can list them as U-21 injured, meaning I only need to play Rodwell to get the quota. In there place I would put Pjanic and Barrios (two players I would not be able to play because I would have had to omit them to fit in Kovacic and Oliveira). And IMO....

Pjanic>Kovacic
Barrios>Oliveira

So you could say I am at a distict advantage. Just using my squad as an example, but I am sure it is the same (and worse) for the otehr teams.

Correct Twist and we realise the flaw, but the alternatives were

1) have no injuries at all meaning that there was no reason for any teams to not play their strongest XI and removing any requirement to have to think about whether you rest players or not
2) have it that you must include 3xU21/Homegrown in your starting XI, meaning that it is possible that clubs could need to have 6/7 U21s, for example, in order to cover the possibility that you get 3 of them injured in one week.

There is no perfect solution - we decided that the chosen one was the best one of the three and came down more to random draws than the other two - lesser of all evils

If someone can come up with a better way of doing it then we are open to suggestions - two requirements: 1) injuries included to make managers have to think and use their squad; and 2) no need to have to go out and buy more U21/homegrown

The only other alternative is that with the injuries, any injuries to U21s is league game only, whilst all other injuries are for both. Could be a nightmare to track though

But that is wrong. You would have to cater for the U21's/Homegrown as my example above shows. It would no way look like you're normal first 11. Hence why Mac is now going out to try and find portogeuse players because he didn't have 3 to start with.

I really do think you had the best way beforehand. No injuries, and you need 3 homegrown and 3 U-21's. At the start of the season you should have made sure you could meet these requirements (without injuries getting in the way).

Mac has already admitted he only has portogeuse players to soak up injuries. If he had his sub-standard portogeuse players injured, he could play his top quality stars. Rather than the old way in which he HAD to field 3 portogeuse players.

Not having a go at you Mac, but I think your team is the best example.

I think the old way was the best way, and better tactically. The new way is just a game of chance (your crapola U21/Homegrown players injured??? Oh goody I can play my first 11 in their place)

How about:

Your injuries drawn on Monday do not count for cup games and you have to play 3 U21s/3 Homes grown as you state.

And you get 1 extra injury drawn from the cup starting XI for the following weeks league game.

This then follows what you say above, and also adds in the additional variable of whether you risk/rest players if you want them to play in the league game.

This feels like the right solution?

I think that is much better. You have to have 3 U21's/homegrown in your line-up and that extra injury could affect any of the 11 that start for that cup game.

The better way have injuries drawn on a Wednesday night or Thursday, when there is a cup game. Or the runners make sure that U21/homegrown's are not able to get injuries when drawn on Monday.

As long as the usual requirements remain (you need 3 U-21's/Home grown in your cup FIRST 11), I am fine with how you do the rest of it.

I'm happily sticking out the weakest team possible btw, I made an effort last season to bring in Portuguese players and got thumped by Spurs so with my sponsorship deal not being affected by the cup I'm not fussed.

No worse than anyone else I don't think. But Wenger most certainly does act up if it isn't going his way.

I think there one of the worst in the league. Cards wise they must be in the top 5 really.
Just discussing with an Arsenal fan and my point was when things arent going their way the get dirty.

I reckon they get a bit tetchy, but not like they used to when they had more dirty buggers. Some of that has to come from the way they see their manager react to things too.

They aren't too bad according to the fair play league though, top 5, even.

This season they have been a bit naughty I think third most cards in the league but generally and the past few seasons they are one of the lowest teams with cards.

I've seen Rooney,Nani, Scholes, Giggs, Evra from our side that behave poorly when things don't go our way I don't think you can stick just one one side.
