Ireland 21 - 23 George north
100% record at the Aviva
Well done Ireland it was a great game, but Wales were sublime.
Let's remember Wales did make mistakes. They lost 4 or 5 of their own lineouts in key positions and missed kick after kick after kick.
Wales really should have won by a far greater margin. They were too fit, too physical and too clever in attack. Tipuric did admirably in place of Warburton and the Irish pack, scrum and backrow never really had the upper hand over the Welsh.
George North will be world player of the year within 2 years, what a pass for JD2 2nd try. He has just as much skill as he is a steamroller. JD2 is 10 times the outside centre Shanklin was. Hook did well at 15 can't fault that.
On the downside Bradley Davies will get cited and miss the rest of the tournament.
Imagine if Wales could kick and win lineouts? I've said for years Halfpenny must kick. Priestland was terrible at kicking, but good in all other areas. Wales now have strength in depth in fowards and backs. Never say die and play to the end.
Best NH team at world cup, joint best NH team at the moment. 3 in a row against Ireland. Who says experience beats youth?

Gnoll if you were the best NH team at the WC, you would have beaten France.
Full credit to Wales today though, Ireland can't have many complaints, the coaching leaves a lot to be desired, when you have such physical ball carriers like Wales, you can't afford to stand 10 metres away from them.
Enjoy the win lads you deserve it.

Tbh even though i am a pretty biased welshman, i didnt think we were great today, i do sympathise with ireland to, as bradley davies should have been shown red and ferris was unlucky for that to be considered a penalty, i think the positive for wales is that despite not playing near our best we managed to get the win, and hopefully can kick on from here, but again it was a very even match and my sympathies to ireland

You forgot to mention J Davies, without him GEORGE NORTH is nothing.

Only if you think that the best team always wins which is obviously not true.

Naaah
If it had been just North we would have won by a lot more - Unfortunetly he had to put up with a "team" always wanting the ball.
Jonathon Davies just showed his Scarlets form for Wales
Preistland's kicking was dreadful, BUT, his management of the game was better than any welsh FH I have ever watched play. With Halfpenny kicking, he should be fine.
Hook looked completely lost at FB or when attacking in the line - Byrne should have been on the bench/field if they wanted a tall FB.
Phillips was loving that game, constant threat around the fringes
The forwards did just enough, im glad we didnt have a scrum when A.Jones went off. Not hugely impressed with Gill, bit nervous. BD had a good 1st half to be fair. Bennett did well in the loose and sorted the lineout in the 2nd half.

After our world cup quarter final, I was explained to in no uncertain terms that the best team always win.

The best team will always win regardless of refereeing of anything. Wales had enough to win the France game, they can have no complaints about that game.

Yep, my therapist is teaching me to accept that. He says there is no such thing as luck. The referee is always right, even when he is wrong or inconsistent. He say you make your own fate and are master of your own destiny.
So far I have agreed to disagree.

Biltong, you will get enough scoring chances in a game to beat the opposition, you have to take them. Ireland didn't take them, SA didn't take them against OZ and Wales should have taken more today.

Needless to say pay no attention to the WUM behind the curtain that is the ever-changing alias. If he wasn't drunk with happiness at a win he'd be pished on rage at a loss and hurling abuse at the Welsh side and coaching staff
Fantastic effort from the team, the backs in particular. Many are right in saying we should have won by more (without intending disrespect towards the Irish) but then I think back to recent years passed and remember that under a different mindset we'd have come just short and again be made to accept the gallant losers tag. We scraped an exceedingly difficult win today so I'm convinced we've made progress...no complaints for now.

First thing: Not drunk
Second thing: If Wales lost I would have gone missing or a week and found in a ditch

Ehh! Decent ??? he was brilliant throughout and is now a shoe in for Lions FFS. Best display of back play I have seen in a long, long time. Made that filthy dross yesterday a distant memory.
Huw Bennett was bloody impressive too plus Halfpenny and Jonathan Davies. What a great game of rugger. I am going to watch this again and again just to remind myself what our great game is all about. I was ready to give up yesterday btw.

sorry he is way better than decent in the literal sense- occasionally us londoners use decent to mean - immense- we emphasise the word!!
i have been talking about the lad for the last hour, he is one hellova player and had a blinding game, i also agree about davies and halfpenny, and preistland was also on the money
