Oh, I might be inclined to let Kroos and/or Muller go but only for:
Kroos - A deal worth £20m at least
Muller - A deal worth £30m +

Note that Lahm chop isn't for sale. Or The Schwein

Neymar is certainly what he is cracked up to be.
The Brazilian Serie A is a vastly different league to what it used to be and that's why clubs like Santos no longer have to constantly sell their players anymore and now often the reverse is happening where Brazilian players are now returning there in their prime.

Same can be said for Gotze, he was the catalyst to Dortmund winning the Bundesliga last season at the age of 18. In his first season he provided 15 assists and is thought of as one of best talents Germany has EVER produced.

If this league is based on form etc rather than past performances from 2 years ago etc then Neymar/Gotze blow the likes of Drogba etc out of the water.

Ending 2010...
So 2 years ago then?
Torres was scoring back then too, same as Andy Carroll, wouldn't trust either to hit the side of a barn now.

Hardly, he scored 11 in 36 games. At the beginning of the 2010 season he was valued around 23m. Now it's around 8m. That's a nosedive of epic proportions and why he's linked to clubs in China.

For me I see football as who is in form rather than you has a legacy.
If the league is based on past performances then we might as well buy Pele and Maradona.

The Russian league isn't that bad, there's a fair few decent players there like Alves, Anyukov, Danny (although injured), Kerzhakov, Akinfeev, Honda, Dzagoev, Doumbia, Bochetti. Eto'o is still getting a good goal return and he's at a club that are obviously going places. I wouldn't rate as high as I would in a bigger league but he's doing well still.

Pav's got it right. That's probably why me, Kamran, maybe Fisher/Pav/Guv/Pull have discrepancies in our ratings with the majority of the league. I'm not moaning about it - it makes it more interesting - but in our past leagues we didn't really rate the so called 'next big things' like Neymar (although he is class) and Hazard (particularly) because we've heard it all before and they've rarely delivered on the big stage. Remember Mancini? Quaresma?

Macc - I do see where you are coming from and respect it.

But I wonder how these players will do in the bigger teams, can they handle the pressure of playing at the the level of winning every week and performing.

Someone like Mateja Kezman, who I rated highly and has a tremndous record before Chelsea...and then look at his record, it suffered badly.

I just wonder how these players who have the potential and are showing in their respective teams will fair in clubs who demand a great performance every week. It is hard.

I do rate these players but not as highly as proven players like Drogba, who have done it at the highest levels.

I personaly rate Shaqiri highly and hopefully he can sure his worth in Bayern next season

I think it is ok to rate players on current form, but they should also be judged on consistent through a season ot two

You are always going to have big players from overseas (like Kezman) that don't really cut it in the PL...Veron for instance.

However, Hazard, Gaitan and Javi Garcia and many more are all playing for big European teams, who would walk into any PL team. The PL is not the be all and end all, and is certainly NOT the proving ground to establish if a player is talented or not.

In fact, my team would consist of maybe 1 or 2 premier league players. And that is when discounting both Barcelona and Madrid.

You name me any English player and I would name two players from outside of Madrid or Barcelona that are better in the same position. In fact, I would even say I would discount the entire Spain national side as well.

Why wouldn't Kezman cut it?
He is talented and had a pedigree

Nobody thought Ruud Van Nistelrooy would make such a fantastic impact like he did....its about doing it.

No disrespect the likes of Lille are not consistently in the CL and not a big club with great expectations.

Move to a club like Madrid, Man Utd and Milan and the fans demand performance aswell as results

All of the top teams in PL have 'foreign' players who are cutting it

Hart: Neuer, Buffon.....I think Lloris is certainly on par with Hart.

Rooney: Tough one because it isn't just better strikers, but also the role as a striker he plays. I would rate Van Persie over Rooney. I would say that Rooney is Englands best player by a mile. But I certainly think there are more prolific strikers in lower "ranking" teams.

I am agreeing with you. He was talented, but in the PL he didn't cut it. Forlan is another example. My point is that other factors come into play. Don't think PL is the test of a player, so if he doesn't make it in a PL team he is instantly not that good.

Opposite is true...someone liek Hazard isn't playing in a PL team. This doesn't make him "unproven" simply because he would walk into all of them.

I don't think they have to play in just the PL...they need to be playing CL football most seasons and prove their worth

Spain, Germany and England are the most dominant leagues.

Anyway, hope to see Hazard playing for Arsenal and prove me wrong Wink

But in that very reasoning the likes of Drogba and for that point most of the Chelsea team have failed to perform to the standards set in previous years, it just takes a look at the values of transfer markt to see virtually all of them on a constant downward slope for 2 years now, whilst the like of Neymar, Gotze, Hazard, Eriksen, Hummels, Reus, M'Vila, Hulk, Falcao etc have rocketed, because they've consistently shown themselves to be the genuine article.

I don't have the latest FM, I just watch a lot of football from overseas rather than just the premier league and the top two in Spain. Try it sometime, you may find someone better than the Stewart Downings of this world etc?

Yes some players don't adapt to the premier league, but it's wrong to saddle every player not to have to come to the premier league as being the next Kezman, when you also get players that weren't good enough in other leagues that make it big here.

Horses for courses, not every player suits a certain team or league and that's the risk any team takes.
Bergkamp was half the player in Serie A before he joined Arsenal.
Strikers though are the most obvious to see the dips in confidence in form as the goals dry up, look at Torres as a glaring example of a move that failed to pay off.

I don't particularly want Sneijder now either.
Ideally I'd want two, M,Vila is a great shout but I'd go with getting a couple in, De Rossi as his contract isn't sorted so would be possibly available as a freebie in the summer and Eriken from Ajax who they have been scouting a fair bit and would be ideally suited to how Fergie likes to bring in talent around his age and make them global names.

I'd prefer De Rossi or M'Vila over Garcia ATM but he's certainly looking good, the price Benfica (and Porto) usually get for players puts me off, same with the silly fees Gaitan and Hulk are looking to be over the summer.

Not often Tottenham go away to a lower league team and act like the Premiership team.

Definitely saw the Tottenham of old shine through today. Making life difficult for ourselves when it shouldn't have been.

Credit to Stevenage though.
