Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
Hmmm, not as strong as the Glasgow XV but some very good players in the Edinburgh pack (from 4-8), plus some decent firepower out wide.
Is Harry Leonard injured? I'd like to see him get more rugby.
I think I may go along to this one, it only being about 20 minutes on foot from my flat and all

Fair play - U20s got quite a task on their hands so good experience there.
I'm sure Godman will be worth the entrance fee alone....

I wouldn't agree with that at all - other than the front 3 and halfbacks (and Lee Jones) that's the team that humped London Irish. The back 5 is very strong. Then again there is (good)Godman and Kyle (better if it was Jim) Traynor.
Probably won't make it as I have man flu. Is it on TV?

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
I guess I look at that Edinburgh side and think that the scrum will creak and the half backs will muck it up. At least in that department I think Glasgow will be stronger. As far as the rest of the packs go, both have strong sides.
Probably not much in it. The Edinburgh back row is undoubtedly top class.
Not sure if it's on TV. I may just wander down in any case.

An Edinburgh win tonight will certainly help Glasgow's cause in the league. Ospreys being directly above them.
Come on Edinburgh!

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
Don't get this ref - the amount of times he's called "hands away white" and yet teh Ospreys somehow steal the ball! Surely someone must have had hands in the ruck to do that??

I noticed it too, I think you will win this because the Ospreys are disinterested and half asleep to be honest. Id be happy with a losing bonus point at the moment.

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
Try of the season right there?
Dirkesen hands off 2 Scottish players, chips the ball over the on coming winger, catches it, and sprints past 2 more players to score under the posts!
Brilliant, simply brilliant!

Think refs struggle to keep up with the pace of Edinburgh games; missed about 3 calls there, both ways.

Kahn Fotuali'i is a clown knocking on at the base of the ruck with no pressure with 30 seconde left!
If hes blown the game for us now with that silly error then he wants shooting.

Well done Ospreys! Brilliant try by no.14! However, I do feel we got robbed by the poor reffing/linesmen.

Yes on balance you should of won that, the Ospreys looked so disinterested tonight, they werent playing anywhere near the level that team is capable of.
thankfully dirksen probably scored the try of the season and nicked it for us.

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
What the hell was that Edinburgh?? Absolutely abysmal performance. Fair play to the Ospreys for grinding out the win but they did hee haw to win that match - and neither did they need to as we were intent on handing the game to them! Team just looked uninterested and Roddy Grant should've led from the front but didn't look up for it.
Depresses me that all teams need to do to beat Edinburgh is to basically turn up, absorb all the pressure then wait for Edinburgh to make a mistake - which will happen.
And who is this Argentinian midget of a prop we've got? A reserve front row from Airioni?? Don't agree he looked good tonight - didn't look confident in the scrum and we should have been happy with the penalty we got. Why did we go for another scrum??
Because our other resident midget (good)Godman can't kick to save himself.
Kick pretty much in front of the posts that would have won us the game? Sounds very familiar with him
Raging.

And the try - great finish but absolutely appalling defending.
Really pains me to say it but Mossy looks well and truly past it

RDW, also raging. Couldn't make the game as working late. Got down to The Doctors to watch it about 10 mins in, and thought this looks good. Too many players didn't show up in second half. Particularly Roddy and WCP. Thought Nethan was MOM.

I know you don't like KF, Alyn but Rhys Webb was on for over 20 minutes at the end.AlynDavies wrote:Kahn Fotuali'i is a clown knocking on at the base of the ruck with no pressure with 30 seconde left!

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
I know Max Boyce sang about blind Irish referees in the 70s, but I see they are still around today Edinburgh had about 10 forward passes tonight that were not picked up. He pinged Duncan for not binding up when their tight head was binding on Duncans arm. Incompetence abounds I'm afraid

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
To be fair the Ref was in his 5th Rabo game and made a lot of mistakes. His reffing of Ospreys at the breakdown in the first half was unbelievable, see earlier post.
Hey it's only a ref.

Didn't have long on the pitch but did what he was asked - did well in the lineout and had a few carries!

Bloody hell!
That'll teach me to watch 2 games at once... I'll have to have another look at that one, lol.
I'll have to get glasses if I have actually mistaken KF for Webby...

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
What a load of complete rubbish. What on earth gives Edinburgh the right to treat these games as routine training exercises.
7 minutes to go, 1 point behind and a penalty is awarded in the opposition 22. To earn that penalty there had to be roughly 10 dodgy scrums before the ref gave a penalty, and in there could have been several penalties awarded both for and against Edinburgh (in particular the new prop sticking his arm on the ground). It was hardly one way domination. Why Edinburgh didn't kick themselves in front I'll never know. That idiot Turnbull on the touchline thought it was the right decision?? He should have his contract terminated for criminal stupidity, and Dougie Fife MOTM?? He was clearly watching a different match.
It's infuriating following Edinburgh because the talent and ability is there, but they make such stupid decisions sometimes that it seems like they are deliberately trying to win matches by the most difficult route possible. Edinburgh should never in a zillion years lost that game, and yet again they have managed to. I know everyone loves Bradley at the moment, but he's got to sort out Edinburgh's league form to be considered truly successful.

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
The ref really struggled, but to be honest I don't think it really impacted the result. Both sides suffered some really odd decisions. Duncan Jones was pretty much penalised out of the game, and on several of those scrum penalties I didn't think he was doing much wrong.
The breakdown was a lottery. He wouldn't let either side compete legitimately, but then on once occassion when he shouted hands aways the Ospreys (legitimately) stole the ball and he allowed it, and yet on others he was penalising players who were on their feet legitimately competing.
He just looked out of his depth.

Re: Edinburgh vs Ospreys
FunnyES, basically I agree with your last sentence, he made many mistakes and he wasn't helped by his assistants. On one occasion he penalised the young Ospreys tighthead for going in with his head, when he was on the opposite side of the scrum which was very close to the touchline nearest to the Ospreys loosehead, therefore about 50 metres from the TJ on the opposite side of the field. When the scrum broke up Joe Rees had a nasty mark just below and in the corner of his eye, that decision really mystified me.
I know this is nothing to do with this thread, but in Wales at the moment there is enormous thought going into the attendances at the Regions and on the weekend that Wales are playing Scotland why couldn't ours and the Glasgow Scarlets games have been played down here this weekend. I was in a seaside resort this morning called Porthcawl and spoke with a couple of your countrymen in a cafe who were from the Borders area and I mentioned this to them and they said they would have gone to see this match if it would have been played down here.
I don't think there is much joined up thinking coming out of Rabodirect Headquarters at the moment. Anyway that's my rant over with.
