Brew to stay at Dragons
Reports that Aled Brew is off to France are unfounded according to scrum v last night. Aled is apparently close to signing a new contract at the Dave good news at last for the best fans in Wales

Great news if Brew does stay, but although I'm gutted that Tovey's signed for the Blues, I don't see the point of holding it against him.

Hopefully he will stay, but that said wasn't Tovey meant to be staying at some point last/this week?

No, never meant to be staying. There was no about turn or anything. The Dragons (Edwards) announced las week that they'd offered him a new contract but that we could only afford a 'market value' offer. I guess Tovey weighed this up and thought no thank you, I'll take (possibly) more money at the Blues and will (probably) play Heineken Cup ruggy instead.

Griff - I get what your saying what I meant is that the Beeb reported that TOvey was going, then maybe he wasn't going, and now he has gone. The same as they have reported that Adam Jones was off to France, then maybe not, and now no he is staying. THey can't be trusted as such on what they say, untill the Dragons or another party come out and say yes he has signed then it is all speculation.
Personally I think he would be a fool to go. Nathan Brew has gone on record saying that leaving the Dragons was his worst decision ever, and also Aled has had experience of being at the Ospreys and Blues and not being utilised properly. Unless there was stupidly larger wages (like 3x or more) elsewhere he would be taking a major risk to leave.

Peotic Justice would be Tovey kicking a goal end of the season to put the Dragons into the HC and the Blues out.

The key thing now - if Aled Brew does actually stay - is whether Steffan Jones or whoever replaces Jason Tovey can build up the same kind of on-field understanding as Tovey had with Brew. We had so much success from Tovey's little kicks through for Brew to chase. If he doesn't have that kind of understanding with his oustide half, he might not have the best brought out of him from next season.

I was looking at the Rabo table this morning (to see how poor my side are), and there really aint too much between the Blues and Dragons at the moment, with the game to be played at Dave betwen you two the gap could be closed even more.

Re: Brew to stay at Dragons
I wouldn't say that SS - the Blues are on 31 points and the Dragons are on 17, even if the Dragons to win their rearranged game against the Blues it would still only given them 21 points and they'd still need to win 3 games and hope the Blues only pick up 2 LBP in the same period.
Unfortunately (now we've lost to Glasgow) it's much closer between us and the Blues and if they (as expected) win against Connacht then they'll be above us in the league on 35 points to our 34, and they'll have a game in hand.

Sorry all. just seen this on the BBC website, off to Biarritz now apparently. Not good news but he has done a great job for us over the past few seasons so the best of luck to him.
