Golf / spa break help Empty Golf / spa break help

Post by cornwell74 Sun 12 Feb 2012, 11:55 am

Need some help ...

I've been instructed that we deserve a break I'm trying to book a weekend (or just one night) away in Scotland or N England. Missus wants spa while I hop on a golf course. Happy to spend reasonable money and looked at OCH, Gleneagles and Turnberry but non of them seem to offer quite the right deal. Closest is the 'your way' deal at the Old Course but it's 335 per night but a minimum 2 night stay. I've stayed there a few times with work and it's just not worth it.

There's the Sunday deal at Gleneagles but when you add in food it would work out about £450 quid. Again, stayed there before and it doesn't seem like value to me.

Any ideas?

Rockcliffe Hall near Darlington might be an option. Great course, spa and restaurant for the evening. Probably get a deal as well.

I don't think Greywalls have a spa set up but the Marine at North Berwick do.
Its a Macdonalds Group hotel so I'm not sure if it would be as posh as the others mentioned but it does have a great view.

Another vote for Rockliffe. It's just won awards for being 2nd best in Britain, 4th in Europe and 9th in the world. It's not cheap but it's a LOT less than any of the others on the list. Really friendly people and the spa facilities are incredible.

Thanks for the suggestions. Greywalls is a top idea but the lack of spa is indeed a deal-breaker.

Rockliffe I like but I think we'll go to the marine. Agreed that it's a bit shabby (again, stayed there with work) but the spa is acceptable and N Berwick is a great wee town for pubs and restaurants.

Thanks everyone.

You could try the Fairmont at St. Andrews, you'll get a game on their course and a Spa for the missus as part of a package. Email them and ask if they can sort it out for you. In addition... you can stick your name in the draw for TOC the following day!

Cameron House at Loch Lomond is supposedly pretty good.
