Debate of the day - Tina Turner
The beyond the thunderdome/ thunderthighs singer once crooned "you're simply the best".
So my debate of the day, which has been curtailed in length due to my manly flu like symptoms, is a simple one.
Who pound for pound, is the best wrestler in the biz today.
Now take into account whatever you want to decide your number one guy (whether it be airtime, current story, promo skills, wrestling ability or whatever). The one way I would ask you to judge it, is if you were building a new company and could take one wrestler from the major feds, who would it be.
Don't take someone due to the merchandise sales (ie dont pick Cena because he would make you money) - pick the one who you think is the best at what he does at the moment.
Over to you.
....Better than all the rest...

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
I personally would pick Austin Aries - great in ring work, great mic work and is able to tell a story in the ring as well. Best by a country mile for me.
Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
Obvious one from me, but CM Punk. I think he has all the tools to create another wrestling boom. However, I have serious doubts about whether it'll happen.

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
I would actually go for Ziggler or maybe Bully Ray if I was building my own fed. I think Ziggler is a little green still, but can see him become huge if given a push. Bully Ray I have been impressed with, and I think he would work well as a sadistic heel and someone who could get major heat.
CM Punk is an obvious choice, but he is starting (just starting mind) to get stale and is living on his pipe bomb promo a bit.
I would much rather go for wrestlers that I feel the feds aren't using correctly, then wrestlers that are already deemed to be top of the tree. So as well as Bully Ray and Ziggler, I would probably add Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Swagger and Evan Bourne (who I would turn heel in 5 seconds flat)

If I was to take a risk then I would go for Dolph Ziggler. He has all the tools to be the best it would be up to me and my company to get the best out of him I guess.
If I wanted to play it safe I would go for Randy Orton.
I really like CM Punk but I just don't think he's that good in ring. He makes too many mistakes.

Rumor is gaff it wasn't ted, it was the Miz
In answer to your question Hob's, CM Punk for me is probably the best all round talent in wrestling today, he's always been dynamite on the mic but in the ring he is also enjoying his best ever period, Kurt Angle is probably the only other contender for me, though he seems to be on the wain ever so slightly but that has been said before

I like Adam's shout to be honest, pound for pound Austin Aries would definitely be in contention, if the guy was 6 inches taller and 25 lbs heavier he'd be the top guy in the business

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
I think Randy Orton is the biggest talent, how many big ppv matches has he contested, and he's only 32, so you've got a highly experienced guy, who could have 10 years left at the top.

I don't think we can really have a true reading basing it off big PPV matches to be honest or else it would be a Cena white-wash

He's had more big matches than anyone else in the business in the last 8 years though

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
Got to go for Austin Aries as the best in the business at this moment in time, I'm loving what he's doing despite having arguably the weakest ever X-Division talent pool to work with.
If he hasn't already, then he's coming very close to out-growing the X-Division. If they're not going to utilise guys like AJ Styles, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels etc. to strengthen the X-Division then I'd have Aries drop the title to Alex Shelley and move on to better things further up the card.
They should have guys like Mr. Anderson and Rob Van Dam i.e. big name babyfaces who are doing sweet FA right now put him over.
Whilst Aries might be the best around at the moment if I was going to steal one guy to start a wrestling company it would be Randy Orton.

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
Can't argue with anything you say there, I really don't get why Kaz and Daniels and even RVD aren't in more X division matches, it's almost like they have unofficially decided it's a curtain jerker title, for me it should be the second highest accolade in TNA, the X-Division Champion should be held in if not as high a regard as the World Champion at least held in a similar light
If Randy Orton did away with his slow delibrate schtick I think he'd be the biggest name in Wrestling

My thoughts exactly!
I can't believe they've got guys of the calibre of Styles, Daniels, Van Dam etc. and only using them occasionally. Haven't seen much of Kazarian, but the others definitely have the speed, agility and flair to really give the X Division a boost (seeing as they're apparently not destined for a heavyweight title shot).
Have to agree with a few others here that Aries has got to be one of the most entertaining fighters around. Even as a heel he's still likeable. He backs up his arrogance with great performances and he comes across as intelligent and articulate, as well as having a sense of humour (albeit somewhat twisted).

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
Cm Punk Or Chris Jericho ,
Reason or jericho is he might be old etc but his good in the ring , good at promoing and all so does not have a massive ego so would have no problem letting over some one and could all so help some young guys.
Punk for the reasons of being the one of the biggest stars out there , great in ring , great promoing not only that he cares for the business and i would let him say what he ants on his special pipebomb

Re: Debate of the day - Tina Turner
I only watch WWE so my choice would need to come from there, and I think if I were to choose right now I would pick Cody Rhodes for a variety of reasons
Although he still has room for improvement in the ring, he can still put on a decent match and has plenty of time to perfect his trade. His age is another reason, even at such a young age he is on the cusp of the main event scene and given a year or two could hold one of the main titles and become a main event star for years to come. He's good on the mic (not everybodies cup of tea but I like his style)
