The Vamos Syndrome And You
It's February.
No tennis. OK. Almost no tennis. Unless you call Delpo annihiliation of Troicki of 6:0 6:1 today a "match"
Well, what do you do, and what do tennis writers do....they come up with articles like this:
http://blogs.tennis.com/tennisworld/2012/02/by-pete-bodo-researchers-at-the-center-for-disease-investigation-cdi-in-atlanta-ga-believe-theyve-identified-a-new-and.html
I had a laugh, albeit a nervous one....
VAMOOOOS!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a fantastic, enthralling and captivating spectacle. I really couldn't pick a winner until the last 9 games.Unless you call Delpo annihiliation of Troicki of 6:0 6:1 today a "match"
That article was nonsense btw.

Seriously! If anything negative is written about Rafa your there in a flash. I see you here, I see you there... I see you everywhere.
Hopefully here on 606v2 everyones had enough of the "Lets have a dig at Nadal" articles.
Maybe what is irritating to some is that as well as being an all time great Nadal is good looking. Contrary to what many think this is not always such a positive thing.

But at the same time, it's exactly why you're a fan.

Hawkeye,
I don't find Nadal good-looking. At all. Maybe that's the key to seeing his tennis properly
That triviality aside, I'll keep my eye on any further studies of this nature, since sociology has always been my area of interest.
I have always had suspicion about Nadal fans, especially as every time you see clips of fans being interviewed at various tournaments and asked who they support and why, Nadal fans WITHOUT a fail ALL said stg to the effect : because he was cute....
Steve Tignor has had two blog articles devoted to Nadal fans, and they all came up with mor or less same boring stuff: humble guy, amazing person, etc stuff. not a T of tennis....
But, it doesn't matter, I find it amusing.
BTW, have you bought any Armani underwear recenly

Tomorrows Delpo Berdy should be fun. Really look forward to that one.Josiah Maiestas wrote:It was a fantastic, enthralling and captivating spectacle. I really couldn't pick a winner until the last 9 games.Unless you call Delpo annihiliation of Troicki of 6:0 6:1 today a "match"

I would say it could be why a lot would be uncomfortable admitting they are a fan! Heaven forbid people might snigger and think that they found him "cute". Of course not you noleisthebest we all know you only like manly men...
To be taken seriously it doesn't pay to be too good looking. Is Nadal that good looking? Well as far as top tennis players go he is. The various photo shoots, sponser work etc show this. Does it make certain tennis fans feel uncomfortable? I would say judging by the snide comments when it is mentioned that it does.

Really? You think it's because of his looks? Nothing to do with his on court behaviour, injury excuses, less tournament demands.
Just bringing the truth for all the Nadtards lurking.

Re: The Vamos Syndrome And You
My favourite bit was the husband's response:
""I got suspicious when I saw the make and size of the drawers," said Harvey Cerrone, who owns his own pest-control business. "I'm a Fruit-of-the-Loom guy, and I wear only 2XL striped boxers. When that first shipment of those itty-bitty things arrived at the house, I thought they were my Valentine's Day present. Then I went, 'Whoa! Something ain't right here!' To tell you the truth, I thought Connie was having an affair with a pool boy or something like that. But that was too obvious. Then, when UPS kept bringing in more and more boxes and the credit-card company called, I knew something else was going on."
Fancy ordering 1000 pairs of tiny underpants on your husband's credit card. The sheer cheek of it all!

It's just as suspicion but yes I do think it's something to do with his looks. Also his personality. He's just not you average sports star.
There's nothing in his on court behaviour (the hitting the ball variety) that isn't to be admired.

Actually most women will tell you he's not even best looking Spanish player, they would list Verdasco and Feli ahead of him certainly. And I like watching Feli play so ur argument doesn't cut it.
