UN steps into Wales/England Six Nations Row
A summary statement issued by a special meeting of the United Nations general asssembly has been released.
Personally, I was hoping for a better outcome than just words, but apparently the motion to take direct action and have UN peace keeping forces referee the rest of the 6N was vetoed by New Zealand and Australia. Personally I feel that it's typical and sadening that countries that tend to prof from this sort of lawlessness would oppose any genuine action being taken, and it makes me wonder what the point of the UN is at all.
"Summary
The deteriorating situation in the Six Nations prompted the UN Rugby Adjudication Council to establish an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate alleged violations of Rugby Adjudication since 1 Febrary 2012.
From mid February the commission held meetings with Member States from all regional groups, regional organizations, including the Six Nations Member Unions and the Organization of Rugby Adjudication Cooperation, non-governmental organizations, Rugby Adjudication defenders, journalists and experts.
It interviewed 223 victims and witnesses of alleged Rugby Adjudication violations, including civilians and defectors from the member squads and the extended EPS. In the present report, the commission documents patterns of summary refusal to award legitimate tries, arbitrary enforcement of penalties for alleged but groundless lineout violations, enforced disappearance for periods of 10 minutes, time keeping abnormalities, including premature discontinuation of advantage, as well as violations of attacking players rights and the failure to protect attacking players rights by preventing defenders from using gross professional illegalities to thwart insurgency at the try line.
The substantial body of evidence gathered by the commission indicates that these gross violations of Rugby Adjudication have been committed by rugby adjudicators and assistant officials since the beginning of the protests in late February 2012.
The commission is gravely concerned that crimes against rugby have been committed in different locations in the Six Nations during the period under review. It calls upon the Governing body of the Six Nations to put an immediate end to the ongoing gross Rugby Adjudication violations, to initiate independent and impartial investigations of these violations and to bring perpetrators to justice. The commission also addresses specific recommendations to opposition groups, the Rugby Adjudication Council, regional organizations and State Members of the IRB.
The commission deeply regrets that, despite many requests, the IRB failed to engage in dialogue and to grant the commission access to the highlights of the games in question.
The IRB informed the commission that it would examine the possibility of cooperating with the commission once the work of its own independent special legal commission was completed. The commission reiterates its call for immediate and unhindered access to the Six Nations video highlights reel."
In addition Mr Ban-ki Moon has gone on record as saying "It looked like a try from where I was sitting, Strettle clearly forced the ball. I believe there is undisputable video evidence."

The UN stepping into a crisis?
Batten down the hatches and pass around the ammo.. war tends to arrive just when the UN signs the agreement guaranteeing peace.

On the plus side if the peacekeepers stay here for 3 years then England will have some newly qualified players to pick.

Get the shovels out and and refresh that ditch that Offa started. Oh and stick the price up on the bridges, 6 quid is less than a pint in Twickers.
