England got wiped out by an inferior Pakistan side, who can't bat for toffee. SL will maul England's medium paced dobbers. Sangakkara, Dilshan, Mahela, Chandimal will fill their boots and then some.Duty281 wrote:Demon Racer wrote:SL batsmen getting back into form. They've destroy Swann and Panesar. Beating the Windies is as meaningless as beating Bangladesh.
SA batting holds no fears in England? Graeme Smith loves batting in England. AB averages 64 in England and Amla 45...
Damn sight better than Pietersen or Trott in SA...
Judging by the increasingly aggressive nature of your posts, I'll sense that you are nervous. SL batsmen getting back into form? Not a single score of above 350 made in their last Test Series against South Africa. 1-0, maybe 2-0 England
As for Eng v Sa, last time 1-1 in South Africa 2009 - England have improved since then plus this series is in England. I'll enjoy watching Anderson, Broad and Swann tear you apart. I'll enjoy our batting pile up centuries for fun. I'll enjoy us winning by an innings. I'll enjoy being no.1.
Not nervous one bit.

Medium paced dobbers
England's bowlers are better than Sa's bowlers. True you have Steyn, the best, but we have 3 bowlers in the top 10 as opposed to SA's 2. WE ARE ENGLAND AND WE ARE NUMBER 1!

Third time I'm being compared to this SB fellow. I can prove I'm SA, passport+birth certificate, if SB is also from Durban then its a once in a million occurrence...Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:Its almost as if sonic boom kept registering different accounts pretending to be various nationalities whilst posting the same stupid digs to get a reaction isnt it?

Funny things are these rankings, when Australia where top no one cared about rankings. A few England players get into the top 10s and its the be all and end all of cricket. Double standards.Duty281 wrote:

I might not want to compare these sets of bowlers to quickly.
True we only have two bowlers in the top ten.
But look at Philander, he has continued his form in the domestic season and he moved into the top twenty rankings within only 4 tests.
Marchant de Lange may only have played 1 test, but when you look at his current form, the man is on fire. He has taken 9 wickets in domestic limited overs cricket on his last 4 games, and 7 wickets in three matches in NZ.
Then our other back up seam bowler Tsotsobe has taken 14 wickets in his last 7 ODI's.
Me thinks it is closer than what you would think.

I'm sure it is close and that's why I'm looking forward to seeing them compete! And in English conditions, I will stick with our rather varied attack, though I'm sure yours will do a lot of damage. Our boys are playing really well with each other atm

Hyperbole for the win
Youre right, the next best bowler averages 2.5 wickets at 46, he really is twice as good as everyone else. No hyperbole here.

You can't generalise. I did care about the rankings when Australia were top and I still do today. South Africa are the nearly men of World Cricket.

Yeah, nearly always at the top, as apposed to nearly always in the middle.

Meh.
We are playing away in OZ and England this year, there is little expectation that we will win both series.
Unlike England and OZ who has a fair few home series this year.

True, I think the fact that our forefathers all hopped onto a ship with adventurous spirit dulled their nerves, so a number of generations later, we just don't have them in our genetic make up.

Re: English posters are you getting nervous?
They'll be fine (at the Basin you mean?)
Funnily enough, the NZ cricket commentators can get very negative and pessimistic, going on about the choice of bowlers when things weren't happening. They are probably right but they seem to dwell on it too much.... like certain NH rugby followers, etc. In Oz, they can get stuck into certain players but they move on quickly and have the attention span of a fruit fly in comparison.
However, the rugby fraternity in NZ is the opposite. I often wonder if they are the same folk?

Not sure mate, I think the Aussie commentators just have a lot to say about a lot of things.

I know exactly what you are saying, thinking about it, i am surprised we didn't see the NZ posters harp on about every conceivable angle of winning the RWC after 24 years. I would have thought based on what we see now, that the NZ posters would only be warming up now.

Re: English posters are you getting nervous?
They were simply relieved mate after all those years. Now they'll probably win the next 3 in a row.
Having family over in NZ, the intensity of their rugby analysis always struck me by surprise. The selection questions are big news... almost like they are in the UK - if not bigger. They have good reason for it obviously; it's such a passionate thing over there.
The 'Probables v the Possibles' matches would never occur here and it seems the evening news always leads with a rugby story.... oh, and at a quarter past the hour there will be some 'minor' story like the stock markets plummeting 1000 points in the last 24 hours.

Now for the weather...and some more sport like the "Sheepdog Trials got off to a bright start in Gisborne today with 2 y.o. Terry (owned by Mr and Mrs Dempsey of Taihape) stealing the show!"
