1 million posts

First topic message reminder :

A big thank you to all those who have contributed to making this site a success over the last 13 months.

Today, we hit the 1 million post mark and are nearly at the 4,000 member mark.

By this time next year......

(we wont be millionaires but we will have hopefully got way past the 2 million mark!)

I was terrible at maths when I was at school, I hated it, it was a four letter word as far as I was concerned.

Surely Mathematics is the correct word for the study of numbers and ting? That being the case (assuming it is), the term is a plural, and therefore any abbreviation of the word has to follow the rule of plurality and end in an 's' also?

Or am I shoite at English too? Very Happy

well yeah maths is the correct abbreviation, but my concern is more about the fact that id rather use british terms not the yanky alternatives!, its even got to a point were we have posters that believe that the US iteration is thought of as the correct term!

Of course, the word 'maths' is the correct short name. Our Yankee descendents use the singular term 'math' forgetting that there are numerous areas of 'math' study, hence 'maths'. No Poopie English on these boards. We are an eloquent bunch.

Now here's a question. I am living in New Jersey for the moment. And are part of a very active Rugby club here. Some of my American mates follow Rugby quite closely and a few nut-cases actually read the Rugby boards.
