Changes for next season - your opinions required.
1. England qualified players in the matchday squad.
At present the requirement is for 10 EQ players in the matchday 23 with 5 having to be in the starting line up. I am loathe to reduce the requirement in the matchday squad as it is already less than 50%, however I am considering whether it would be fairer on some teams if we reduced the requirement for how many have to be in the starting line up.
The options therefore are these.
A. Leave the requirement as minimum 5 starters.
B. Change to minimum 4 starters.
C. Change to minimum 3 starters
D. Change to minimum 2 starters
In each case it will still be 10 required in the matchday squad, so with option 4 that would mean your entire bench would need to be EQ.
2. Scoring system
The current scoring system with the bonus point for each winning prediction was brought in to counter the scenario whereby one big prediction one way could see a team win the match depsite the majority saying that they would lose. The flip side to this is that if all 10 people who are predicting see the game as being close and only being won by 1 point, the actual winning margin will be 11 points thereby denying the losing team a losing bonus point and in most cases would see the winning team earn a try bonus point. I see theis at present as having been particularly hard on some teams who have deserved more than they have got this season.
The best solution that I can think of is to make each winnin prediciton worth 0.5 points rather than 1 point. The effect that this would have would be that in the above scenario, the winning margin at the end would be 6 points, thereby meaning that the losing team get the losing bonus point that all 10 managers felt they would have gotten.
So three options for next season.
A. Keep the current scoring system of 1 point for each winning predictions.
B. Revert to the previous system of just going on averages of predictions.
C. Change to 0.5 points for each winning prediction.
Could everyone please with their preferred options, in the simple format of
1 = A, B, C or D
2 = A, B or C
I am interested to here peoples thoughts as well.
Thanks

I suspected that you might go for the change to 0.5 points ITFL, I think you have been one of the people who have been hit by everyone thinking your games would be close but you ending up with nothing from it.

I think a reduction of English starters would help the lower sides and increase dealings between English players which doesn't really happen much.

Think it will make those games predicted as 3 point losses by most, as closer final results.

Looks like making the slight tweak to the scoring system is pretty unanimous.
EQ requirement is a bit more split between option A and B, so will see what everyone else thinks before making a decision.

Re: Changes for next season - your opinions required.
I think the only thing with changing the EQ rule is that everyone has known about needing 5 EQs and could be spending more £ on taking risks with academy players - I know I have spent well over the top on young English but that's only been because of the EQ rule.
If we do something with EQ could you also consider a potential limit on SH, just to even it up that way - think that would go a long way to evening up the teams.
Also would be prepared to offload some English players as I know that I have got quite a few and wouldn't want to stop others struggling in that area too.

Re: Changes for next season - your opinions required.
Some teams don't have the academies to have this conveyor belt of young talent coming though Chris and have to sell their best players to supplement this.
Going down to 4 would open things up for the weaker teams imo, I can't see what a limit in SH players is going to achieve tbh.

Think if we lower the EQ limits it will see more dealing between managers and will improve a few sides but it allows Newcastle/Gloucester to put out worldclass players in nearly every position and possibly makes them uncatchable. Don't see the point of limiting SH players as well when they will all be gone for 8 or more weeks with the "Rugby Championship" next season!

Forgot about the championship too - ignore any comments I said about southern hem.
Are tehy stopping Autumn Internationals? As that's effectively ruling southern hem players out until November time or so!

So that is effectively ruling out some players from the start of the season until after the AIs then.

Pretty much, I did say people are going to have to have a real look at their squads and work out who they are going to release.
Bringing the squads down to 40 will be a real leveller.

Ah well, at least he won't be taking up a space in your squad anymore!

He was always more than a space - he cleaned boots and everything and kept 3 of my physios in full time employment - I've had to sack them now

I could really be helped by the Rugby Championships. Only currently got Woodcock and Contepomi who I'd expect to be in a matchday 22 for the Rugby Championship.

Re: Changes for next season - your opinions required.
At present I potentially lose Beast, Bismarck, Jannie, Hougaard, Lambie, Nonu and Ioane to the Rugby Championship.
AI's will be the biggest problem for teams as you lose NH and SH players.
