Huge shame for him. He really could have been brilliant for England if he'd been fit for the last 3 years.

Yeah, I think England and all rugby fans in general have missed out on what could have been a truly great player. Always a shame to see someone retire due to injury...

Re: Tom Rees has retired
He was probably my favourite player of recent years. So much potential, such a frail body for international rugby. I feel desperately sorry for him.
If it hadn't been for his numerous (and serious, I might add) injuries, in a parallel Universe I could see him wearing the Number 7 shirt along with the Captain's armband rather than Mr Robshaw. Enjoy your retirement.

There's already an article on Rees in International, https://www.606v2.com/t25706-tom-rees-has-retired#1042853, I'll merge this to that and move the combined article up to the main section.
It's never nice to see people forced into retirement by injury

Really really sad news. Great player and he and a huge future ahead of him. I think he would have had the 7 shirt nailed down for some time if he'd stayed injury free. The plague of injuries takes another player. Best of luck to him in the future, whatever he ends up doing.

Such a shame, in those 15 caps he showed some real class.

Shame, he had the potential to be World Class and unfortunately in England we don't have many players in that Bracket..

Re: Tom Rees has retired
We spoke to Tom after our Amlin game in Bordeaux (he travelled with the team and they joind up with the fans in a bar), and he was confident he would be back training last month and fit to play at the end of this month.
Such a shame for Tom.

Thankfully we're starting to get them again now but we could have used a fit Reese over the past few years for sure.

A big shame, a very hard worker and good player. Its sad that injuries force players to retire. I know all about it myself.
I wish Tom well in whatever endevour he chooses to follow.

Re: Tom Rees has retired
Darn shame though I'm not that surprised unfortunately with his injury history and setbacks. A real shame as he was a real talent in an area England really needed following the retirement of the Trinity.
He seems like an upbeat, intelligent lad so I think he'll be fine with whatever he sets his mind to.

Always a shame to hear of something like this, but as others have said it's not altogether surprising. It won't have been a decision taken lightly, ultimately his long-term health is more important though.
