Djokovic/Isner's semi
Anyone notice this is on?
As I suspected, big John is not rolling over here. Break back for 5-5 and now 40-0 on his serve.

What just happened?
Did Djokovic challenge the call cause it looked like they kept playing?
He didn't stop..* looks confused*

Re: Djokovic/Isner's semi
Isner was hitting outrageous forehands against Fed when he beat him on clay the other week. Partly Fed's fault for adopting a Nadalesque moonballing style, but nonetheless Isner was a monster.

Nadal will be praying for Djoko to lose tonight, but what's the alternative? There's a strong case for Isner beating Nadal: Tall guy, DHBH, amazing serve, knows how to finish at the net, ect

Djoko just can't believe how often Isner hits the lines, he seems to think it's not fair

Wow, he did it. Isner didn't do anything wrong this match. I take my hat of for him, and judging upon Djoko's reaction at the net, he'll do that too
BTW: where is everyone?? This was a spectacular match folks

Re: Djokovic/Isner's semi
Never saw that coming. Thought he would struggle to get a set. Good quality too, more Ws than UEs. Well done to him!!
Bit harsh on Djokovic who won more points, games and 2-1 on breaks too.
Djokovic W 37 UE 20
Isner W 55 UE 41
37-20 is very solid from Djokovic but maybe one too many easy serves and shortish balls?

Amazing improvement in standard by Isner from the Simon match.

Was a cracking match indeed, thoroughly enjoyed it. Isner has shown he can compete with the best now for sure. And he's not just a serve either...his all round game is very good, and his FH is world class. I like that he presents something different on tour too.

Nitb. Upwards and onwards.
Question for Socal1976... how much more sand is needed on Miami courts to neutralise Isner? Should the final be a beach tennis one in Miami?

Let's not get too carried away with Isner. Might guess he'll finish the season around 8-10 at the moment. Revise up or down a bit as we see how long he can continue this form.

Wow. That was refreshing and enjoyable. Never saw it coming but I will not complain. Now, would asking for two upsets in one day be too much?

Poor Socal...if only the court was faster
I gotta say Djokovic was no where near his best,he was really struggling with his serve

Re: Djokovic/Isner's semi
Very well played to John Isner. He hung in there and competed even when the going got tough and from what I saw I felt he deserved the win. As for Novak I get the distinct impression (now that he is a multi-slam winner) that it is slams he wants so much more than anything else and intends on saving his best for those tournies. I am not saying he isn't trying but just that the intensity he brings to court in slams seem absent (lately) in lesser tournaments.

He has Fedal to exemplify what a tennis legacy should be, which is what he truly desires (do I sound like NiTB? ). Dubai, perhaps, could be categorised that way Craig, but he fought well (or Isner fought rather well). Other top players have suffered loses as well, there is no shame in it, to lose to a player on fire.
He will take positives and have a better strategy next time these two play.

Are we talking Beach Tennis like Beach Volley ball ? that would be an interesting addon to the slowing tour.

Like Fed says, if you lose just leave the place calm and clean. Isner played awesome match, we all know he is fastly becoming a superstar and this match is just a big stepping stone, he beat the monstrous no.1 player of the world.
Hats off Johnyy Bravo

Yes Isner fought very well right to the end and won. Novak can and will do better when it matters most but the intensity in his play just wasn't there enough today and he paid for that. I don't think it is really any real big deal in the grand scheme of things but like they tapped into on Sky it is a blow to the air of invincibility he had built up last year. With every defeat it gives more hope to his opponents in future matches which won't mak things any easier for him. Miami next week has now grown in importance for him and Murray as they look to re-establish themselves and get the ranking points rolling in again and maybe even more so for Novak as his lead in the rankings is being slowly eroded away.

He has lost about 600+ points because he could not defend IW. It is a tough road to stay at the top, getting there is easier, relatively speaking.

The longevity at the top is one of hardest achievements, no matter what Wee Keira theorists say. To become the hunted, rather than the hunter and yet stay ahead of the pack is very good.
