While he will be missed in the sense he was a good servant to the blues...his game has waned this season and i think he hit his peak when he was in the wales squad. Lloyd Williams will benefit from being first choice scrum half and allow a player from the region to come through and get game time as back up.

My understanding is Perpignan currently have a bid on him as well as O'Leary. I'm guessing if O'Leary decides to stay in Ireland it will be Rees they turn too. It looks like he's defnitely going to the Top 14 though.

London Irish are also talking to both O'Leary and Rees.

Wasn't Rees at London Irish in the past? I must be honest I think he will only be going to the Dragons if he harbours hopes for playing for Wales again. He may go to the Wasps to reunite with Dai Young and the other ex-blues. But personally if I were him I would take the money on offer in France for two seasons before heading back to the Jeff or the Dragons.

Top 14 I here
Really gutting news (although it has been predicted for a while), he was poor at the start of the season - but his recent performances have been superb (back to where he was a couple of seasons ago when he was in the Wales squad)
He is a very good 2nd SH and we will really miss him as Lloyd will be away with Wales a lot.
Hopefully the rumours about Warren Fury are not true though...

Who will be Blues SH for nest season can someone tell me. Lloyd and who?. Worrying for the Blues with all these players leaving.
I am still holding out hope we will sign a fair few players as well going into next season, if not, like others have said it may be similar to what happened at the Scarlets a few years ago, only we have got two poor coaches to try to take us through this period.
Seriously, why are the two of them there, what Blues need is an experienced coach to bring through the youngsters and execute a game plan that will bring the backs into play. I would love Mike Ruddock to return to Wales but I the chances of that happening are few and far between.

How would you pay a more experienced coach though?
Nigel came up through the Scarlets and stayed.
Darren Edwards is very inexperiences and Tandy with the O's now even more so!
I think the regions are just going to have to tough it out. Blues coaches aren't doing a dreadful job. in the HEC QF's and still in with a shout at the play offs. Sure you're not playing the best rugby, but it isn't disastrous

I may be being to cynical but from what I've seen, Blues have been awful this season, and the coaches need to take some responsibility for those poor performances.
Blues should have had a home 1/4 final but they ballsed that up in the final game and not beating Irish, who played with 14 men for the large part of the match, by more than 10 points is pretty poor if you ask me. I can't see them making the play off's, even though there are home games with Scarlets and Ospreys coming up, I think they'll slip up against one of them, but I'll be there for both.
Money is an issue definitely, I would just rather an experienced coach to bring through the youngsters, although a young coach like Tandy with young players may bring a fresh impetus to their play, although if Biggar continues to be picked ahead of Morgan, then Osprey's will have to settle with scratching out wins with their pack.

Re: Richie Rees latest out of blues exit door
Martyr - when the Scarlets were really struggling to play a match without taking a thumping people were calling for Nigel Davies' head and for us to get a proper coach in who knows what they are doing. The thing is that a coach inherits a side, and to a point a playing style, from the previous coach, and as such it can take a while to actually see what the coach is really like. Some coaches have the honeymoon when the players want to prove themselves, and other coaches get stuck with deadwood etc. Give those two another season or so and then decide if they are dire (or the future international coaches post Gatland).
As for Richie Rees leaving I would assume that it is probably mutual, as he will free up some wage bill, and he the Blues probably already have their eye on some youngster who is in the prem or not getting enough game time else where.

Burnell might be alright (hard to judge) - but there have been some poor forward performances this season
Baber is absolutely clueless - the Blues backs were TERRIBLE last season, and he should have been sacked (as he was backs coach), not given the head coach job with Burnell.
McIntosh should be in charge, or the Bedford coach (name escapes me - formed Blues FB) who has had a lot of success with an inexperienced team.

Thats the one.
He signed a new contract with Bedford last season though - Blues really missed out, B&B are not up to it imo.

Just read that he's signing for Connacht. A good move for them.

Think Mickado read that on twitter, think Robin Sowden Taylor is taking the Urine with that one!
Also, i don't know where you got this idea that "his recent performances have been superb (back to where he was a couple of seasons ago when he was in the Wales squad)". Definitely not, he's been ok but nothing stand out.

Stadium rent and costs. I'd rather Richie than the stadium, but there you go.

Sorry lads mea culpa. I did read it on twitter and it wasn't confirmed. No more than a rumour at this stage.
