Another school rugby fatality.
There's not a lot of detail as yet, but a 16-year old boy from Hagley in the West Midlands has died after injuries sustained seemingly in a rugby game.
Devastating news. My deepest condolences of course to family and friends.

Re: Another school rugby fatality.
R5 news was implying it was rugby-related.
Apparently it's being discussed on social networks locally.

Gents,
If you see or hear what happened, I would appreciate it if you could share it with me. I would really like to know if there which could have been done, either upfront or on the pitch. These are awful things and I wouldn't want to assume it was Rugby related until the facts are out.

It's hard to imagine what his parents, friends and participating players are going through right now. Desperately sad. I just hope it is not the result of reckless play or poor officiating.

Very sad to hear

I've been keeping a low-level watching brief on the case, but nothing has materialised as yet.

Re: Another school rugby fatality.
And to think there was a thread running today about how important rugby should be in the grand scheme of things and at one stage a poster said "Rugby isn't life and death"
I wanted to say that unfortunately rugby sometimes is about life and death, but I resisted the urge because I didn't want to be too po-faced and bring the mood down.
Now this.

Absolute disaster. I feel awfully for his family and as a teenage player I find myself wondering 'what if'... Most deep condolences and respect to his family and friends. As humbling and enlightening as a tragedy like this is, it does leave you with the dawning truth that things can always be worse not just for you but for your loved ones.
