Glasgow flanker has agreed an initial two-year deal
Scotland flanker Johnnie Beattie has agreed a deal to move to Top 14 outfit Montpellier in the summer, according to reports in France.
The 26-year-old has been capped 16 times by Scotland but he failed to make the squads for the 2007 and 2011 World Cup.
His last international appearance came against Ireland in August last year, with Beattie now opting to leave Glasgow Warriors in a bid to kick-start his career.
Beattie, who emulated his father by playing for Scotland, has signed an initial two-year deal - with the option for a third season.
Beattie's departure from the Warriors has already been offset, with former All Black Angus Macdonald having agreed on Tuesday to join the club.
Montpellier, who are currently fourth in the table, have also completed deals with Brive flanker Alexandre Bias and Perpignan hooker Charles Geli.

Will be a challenge for him at Montpellier if they retain Gorgodze for next season, that man is a monster off the back of the scrum.

A back row including Gorgodze, Ouedraogo and Beattie has the potential to be immense.
It's a great move for him, and it makes a lot of sense for all parties.
Glasgow have replacements coming in already, and Beattie gets the chance to rediscover himself. At his best he is a phenomenal player, one of the best carriers around.

Good news all round I'd say. Good luck to him, I'd love him to come back into contention for the national team.

Yes, in the Herald now too:

He's only 26 - he still has his best years ahead of him, potentially, if he can just clear his head and concentrate on his game. Montpellier love their loosies and he could be a star if he gets his swing back.
I'm backing him to do just that.
