Which judge would you choose?
The Voice
Did anyone catch this last night?
Another talent show but very enjoyable and slightly different to the norm so far.
Four judges listen to acts on the stage - only if they like the voice can they turn around to see who is singing. By turning around, the jugde offers to become their mentor for the rest of the series. If more than one judge turns around, the artist gets to choose which of the judges they want to work with (out of the ones that turned around).
So who are the judges?
Danny O’Donoghue - lead singer with The Sript
Jessie J - you know. The one who looks chavy
will.i.am - the man with the 2nd most ludicrous hair in showbiz. A black eye pea by day, and music producer when not appearing on talent shows as a geust judge.
Tom Jones - the man with the most ridiculous hair in showbiz. Absolute legend.
They kicked off with the four judges singing "I got a feeling". Interesting to note that will.i.am was the worst singer of the four on his own song! Tom Jones proved he could sing the phone book by outsinging the 3 current artists.
All in all a great start and one I will be watching.
Quick poll though - if you could choose one of these judges to mentor you, who would it be?

Re: The Voice
I thought it was brilliant. Loved the bit when T-Dog () stared monologuing about playing guitar with Elvis in Hawaii.
Really original concept and much more enjoyable than X-Factor, only thing I found was that the talking about who was gonna 'go' seemed scripted.
I'd wanna go with Tom.

Re: The Voice
She looks completely out of place, at least Danny offers something different.
Liked Will's comment when she said 'Who's number 1 right now?'.
'I remember the first time i was successful, and the second, and the third and the fourth and the fifth'.
Surely they could've found someone more credible to play the token girl judge role.

Re: The Voice
I thought this was refreshing, none of this X Factor/BGT deluded guff.
If I could sing, I know what show I'd want to go on.

No sob stories either (although the last act tried).

Yeah, sure if something has happened to them, you hear about it, but it doesn't come across "staged".

Re: The Voice
Not sure if it will work though - Fame Academy was better than Pop Idol but that didnt last.
I suppose it will come down to how the show changes after the acts have been selected.
Did anyone else think that T Dog sounded awesome singing "I gotta a feeling" at the opening?

Re: The Voice
That Jessie J is so annoying.
I'd choose Tom Jones, sorry Sir Tom Jones, oh no sorry T Dog.
If you want to be the best why not go with the best.

You want someone who's been relevant in 5 decades and collaborated with some of the biggest and most diverse artists in the world.

Re: The Voice
I thought i lacked spark , it seemed under staged . I know its all about the voice supposedly, yet all the acts had passed auditions to get on the show so they all could sing it would of been better for the acts to audition on the show .
1st and last series for me .

Re: The Voice
Too early to say whether it will be a success - we need to see what happens once the audition phase is over and whether a unique format can be maintained.
The panel does seem a bit of a mixed bag thiough - a legend of the business like T Dog, a top level contemporary star in Will.i.am, then Jessy J who no-one knew 18 months ago and a guy from The Script that only his mother recognised before this programme. If you are tryign to be a credible singer surely there could only be one choice (STJ) and if you are looking to be a contemporary pop star again only one person you should hook up with (W.i.a).

Re: The Voice
The thing that annoyed me was the judges , why were they all waiting to see if anyone else pressed their buttons ? If they liked an act just press ! who cares if another judge liked it or not

Re: The Voice
I thought it was good, a good format I think. I know many people like the X factor because of the ones who can't acutally sing, but I find that all a bit awkward to watch.
As for which coach I'd go for, think it goes without saying for anyone who has seen my posts on the secret crush thread...Jessie J!

Re: The Voice
The Irish version is nearing its end and has been very good, as to what happens after the selection, it pretty much turns into any other talent/singing contest where the contestants sing on stage get some advice from the judges and the public vote

Oh god, have you guys got that as well now?
Spare a thought for us poor people in Holland (where these things are all developed). We are inundated with these reality shows.

Re: The Voice
Yes, it is true Hero. Endemol productions are the ones that came up with the idea but i heard somewhere that the original idea came from an Aussie radio station.
Have you guys had 'The golden cage' yet?

Re: The Voice
It's not really about the voice now is it?
Danny actually said he would keep xxxx because he looked like he would sell more records.
still, it is ok and there are no fake arguments between the judges.
