Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
Hey peeps,
Not been on these forums for a while......thought I would throw myself in at the deep end and post a WM related article....
I’m genuinely excited by WM this year, the card looks strong, and the build-up has been solid. My overall feeling is that Punk vs. Jericho is going to be the match of the night, but i'm looking forward to seeing how the Cena/Rock match plays out, andof course the Taker/HHH HIAC match.
Lower down the card, I think the 12 man tag match, Team Teddy vs Team Johnny, has potential to be one of the highlights of the night too. I think it will provide an excellent opportunity for guys like McIntyre, Otunga, Santino and Ryder to showcase their talents, and have their Wrestlemania moment. My only gripe is that guys like Ziggler and The Miz maybe deserve more than a bit-part in a mid-card tag match at the biggest PPV of the year.
Obviously I think pretty much everyone is expecting a win for Team Johnny, and my gut feeling at the moment is that the win will be courtesy of a screwy finish, with a member of Team Teddy turning on his team and screwing Teddy out of the win. These big tag matches are notorious for this type of finish where someone turns on their team (see Survivor Series 2002 or Bragging Rights 2009 as prime examples)
Personally I would love it if Santino does the dirty on his team, turns heel, and costs Team Teddy the win……I would then like to see Santino drop the comedy character and become a more ruthless heel, maybe even with a submission finisher in place of the cobra.
How do other people feel this match will play out, and if there was to be a heel turn by a member of Team Teddy who would you want it to be and why?

This could be the making of him in my opinion, he's got the look, the music but just lacking the spark at the moment.

I'd like to see Dolph screw Jonny and turn face, but I would just as happily see Miz do it.

in defence of Mr Otunga, his in-ring ability has improved recently.

I think Zack Ryder will, inadvertantly (sp), cost his team the match by being distracted in some way by Eve.

Is it one fall to a finish or elimination?

Otunga is a future WWE Champion, he is a yes man and appears willing to do whatever WWE tell him. In interviews he comes across well, on the microphone he has definite talent and with the Lawyer Bow-Tie gimmick he really has something unique going for him. Finally in ring he is 100% better than he was when he debuted, yes he's not CM Punk but looking back a certain Rocky Maivia was awful in the ring early on.
Otunga has made a fan of me
Re: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
Otunga a future WWE Champion. I really dont know what to say to that. I'm lost for words. Good luck with that one anyway Gregers.

One fall... can't see it going more that 10 mins of action. Would doubt if everyone would get time in the ring if I am honest.

I imaging the ending will be something screwy where we see everybodies finisher one after another, seen that happen quite a few times in these sort of matches

I actually thought it was an elimination match, thats disappointing if infact it is a one fall match

Apparently it is a one fall match. I would have preferred to see it as the main event of a lesser PPV and give it 45 mins for a proper elimination match. The issue with 12 people is that more time will probably be given to their entrances than the actual match!

Would of preferred to see a Gauntlet-esque elimination match to be honest.
Didnt realise it was 1 pin fall either, poo-poo.

Mr H, give me one good reason why Otunga won't be a future WWE Champion?

Jesus. Ok.
He's as wooden as a door. He has no charisma. There are about 10 other guys who probably become a World Champion before him. He makes Alberto Del Rio look like Picasso in terms of drawing.
It just begs belief that you'd even suggest this.

Re: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
I'm actually being serious Mr H. IMO Otunga has the package that Vince looks for in a wrestler.
He is pretty damn decent on the mic and with his character development you can see that the E is serious about pushing him. He's actually got himself over to the extent that a large proportion of WWE's core audience wants to see him get beaten up. He has the look that the WWE often goes for, he has name value due to Jennifer, he is passable in the ring (a hell of a lot better than when he debuted).
US (or IC) Champion by the end of this year for definite and a WWE title, imo, is not beyond him going forward (not this year though)

In the light of the Otunga talk im bringing a story out from yesterday to cheer people up it seems
You know this is going to happen
Wrestlemania 30: Undertaker vs David Otunga. 'Taker slips on spilt coffee, dies, and is pinned by Otunga, who then absorbs his powers. Streak over, and the birth of The Otungataker, Wrestling Deadman Lawyer, is witnessed by all.

Its about as outlandish as Demon predicting Heath Slater will be a singles champion. Probably worse to be honest.

Re: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
I can see this being plausible for Otunga to be a corporate champion in future if they revisit such a storyline though it would need to be a long way off because at the moment he is mainly seen as cannon fodder. If they are serious about pushing him in the ring then I would expect to see him get the pin for Team Johnny.
Certainly can see him holding a mid card title soon, especially if they decide to do a feud between him and Santino. Maybe at Extreme Rules Santino fights for Teddy to get his job back and has to put the US title on the line?...

Mr H, I was agreeing with you, until I suddenlly had a thought.
When Miz was in Tough Enough did you think he would become Champion?
When Dolph was in the Spirit Squad did you think he would become Champion?
You just never know.

I am a fan of Otunga and have said it for a while now, no matter how he gets it, if he gets the pinfall at wrestlemania then Jonny may reward him with a title shot.

That was basically what I was going to write MIG
Based on the tools at his disposal there is no reason why Otunga won't be a future World Champion. Especially for the reasons I have already listed

Same could be said about Great Khali and he's never won anything oh wait hang on. To say that there is no way that Otunga will get a WWE Championship is a bit harsh I think.

Re: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
Even JBL when he was a beer drinker apa member, given his time in wwe everyone would of thought "he's past it and if he has been there for so long with-out getting it he'd never get it now" but a new fresh gimmick and he became a wrestling god.

If Khali was 6ft he wouldnt even be employed.
If Otunga ever becomes a World Champion the WWE would have scraped the very bottom of the barrel.

Re: Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
I think Khali had more upside in that he was a) over 7ft tall, and b) could play the foreign heel card.
Otunga has size too, but then so did Chris Masters who I think is a pretty handy blueprint for Otunga. The biggest thing will be how his gimmick gets over because at the moment while aligned with Johnny it works, but without that I don't know how well he carries it. Not impossible for him to be champ but there is a long way to go before it looks likely.
